Hello Britney. Your style of using sneaking and using light footed tactics is not well supported in the current build. The good news is that build 42, which is set to be released in matter of a few weeks, will better support your style. Lots of people start sneaking when they start. I did that too. In the current version, most people agree that it is best to focus heavily on combat and purge as many zombies as possible near safe houses and points of interest (Gas Stations, Fishing Sports, Grocery Stores, etc.). Otherwise, just as the zombie followed you in the window, you will likely experience that type of problem without purging the threat.

He was at a different house when he died especially considering that if you take a look at the farmhouse and the initial cutscene you first see when you start the game, they don't even look remotely the same.
