What kits would I need to build this? It’s a Christmas gift for my friend
@FPJBrickworks10 ай бұрын
That's a bit hard to say, most parts are pretty common though, except for a few parts such as the wheel arches. You can find the parts list here: rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-63774/FPJ/vw-golf-gti-mk-1/#parts And you can buy spare parts via www.bricklink.com

멋진 사이드카네요 혹시 사이드카를 몇가지 더 만들 계획이 있으신가요?

Maybe, what model are you thinking of?

is that front suspension just an axle acting as a torsion bar? cause i cant see shock absorbers
@FPJBrickworks3 жыл бұрын
It has full independent suspension. You can check the construction in the free building instructions available in the description of the presentation video for the finished model kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWPYdYRonp5kebs As you will see, the shock absorbers are placed horizontally to take up less space.

Nice idea and very good looks, but the technical execution could have been a lot better. Thanks for the idea though. A mars rover might be on my to do list now. :) I would have liked to see something more realistic, with more thought through functions. Like a crane that actually works for lifting and placing stuff. A crane should have enough reach to lift stuff form anywhere around the rover except the front, and should be able to place it anywhere in the cargo area. I would also have expected a better solution for the steering, like using small LAs to make a controllable steering system rather than this jerky system. And lastly it's balance point is to high up. It won't need that level of ground clearance to operate safely on Mars, but it will need better stability to survive the winds (thin atmosphere, but extreme windspeeds can be a problem for tall structures as the wind will drag sand etc. with it that will increase the pressure the vehicle is exposed to). I would have placed heavy parts like motors and battery boxes as the lowest parts, and used portal axles to allow the diffs and any gearboxes to go on top. Otherwise a nice model.

love the truck, extremely well designed. its criminal you aren't at least at 10k subs yet with this quality

Very nice build! Love the idea of central placement of the diffs, and the nive implementation of rc drive/steering with manual gearbok and difflock! It's hard to limit one self like that.

WOW.. I never even knew there was such a configured vehicle in the world that offered such a feature, I am glad you show cased the real unit, what an interesting concept. Was this type of tracked truck being proposed for military operations, or utility and or hard to reach construction jobs? It has the ability to get to a location by roadway, quickly, and then convert itself once at the location to go off-road, so to speak, the rest of the way.. Interesting..
@FPJBrickworks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it is a specialized vehicle used to determine the the geo technical engineering properties of soils and delineating soil stratigraphy...or in short it can test the composition and carrying capacity of the soil.

This one is clever too.. Looks just like what I kinda remember from the movie.. Although, I haven't seen the movie a about a year or so, when I first seen this model you designed and built, that was my first thought, that it looks like the Mars Rover from the movie, MARTIAN. Another MOC well done.
@drubradley88213 жыл бұрын
That drive-line at the rear along with how compact you made the suspension is really clever!! I need to step out of my own way sometimes, as I will get so locked in a mindset over the concept needing to be "typical" soild axle design with one drive shaft input, that often times limits the mission at hand... Here on your MOC of a MRAP you got it all squeezed in there. Well done. I like it.
