Always continue WITHOUT conversion. Let your bank do the conversion, not the ATM. Your bank will always give you a better rate as it will use Visa or Mastercard's rate which is always far better. If you notice, the machine even marked up the currency by 7%. If you do not believe me. Do two test transactions, one where the machine does the conversion, and the other where you let your bank back home do it. Then compare the two transactions in your online banking. You will see just how much different it actually is by letting your bank do it.

My wife and I were right on the other side of the Church from you LOL. It was a GREAT time. So friendly. We got there super early, so we had a prime spot. The people around us were pouring out rum and what not and were so friendly to us knowing it was our first time. We stayed the whole month of November and had no idea we were in for such a treat. It did get a bit intense when the firecrackers and stuff started getting lit. We were exhausted from just spending the day there.

Glad you enoyed it I had a great time also. Been to Cartagena a few time but that was my first Carnival. The firecracker situation was crazy and I got out of there as soon as it got dark. Good times!

Very few videos of Olaya out there, I have a friend that lives there. Definitely the side of Cartagena they never show or want known. For the money Cartagena makes from tourism things should be much better for the people of Olaya. You showed the fairly tame parts too LOL. But it is always good to see all sides of a place like Cartagena. Olaya strong.

Hotel Rui Plaza Panama is good for the money and everything you need is within walking distance. Casco Viejo is a 15 min cab ride from the hotel.
