Im planning on mounting a 40 inch (10kg)tv on a swivel mount. Its a dot and dab wall like this. I have these fixing, but haven't installed it yet... What are my chances of success?

I agree that this is the safest option if one is in any doubt about fixing a heavy object to plasterboard but nobody's going to hang, say, a large plasma TV on the wall using just two fixings of any kind! So the video is slightly misleading as other fixings can play a role as regards heavy-duty attachments. Using a straight rectangular wall-bracket (which spreads the load accordingly), eight metal plasterboard anchors evenly and correctly installed are more than enough to hold a heavy Sony 40" TV as I've done it myself on a couple of occasions. However, the heavy swivel/tilt type brackets are a quite different proposition and, because of the resultant movement, the Rigifix fixings are definitely the only choice here and an excellent product for providing a secure fix and total peace of mind, Horses for courses, really!

Using plasterboard drivas to hang a TV is not a good option regardless of how many you use; they are only as good as the plaster board itself! Rigifix transfers the load to the masonry behind, Its the only fixing of its kind able to do this without pulling in the plasteboard when securing the fixing through to the masonry for a secure fix without damaging the plaster board.

b1fta I'd agree that metal wall-anchors may not be the best option in certain cases (and in some not an option at all) but these are certainly at least a decent option in many others. A 'belt and braces' approach to fixing items on plasterboard is not always necessary though it does have the undoubted benefit of complete peace of mind. No argument there! As for the general condition of the plasterboard I agree again with that but not that the number of fixings used is irrelevant. Irrespective of the type of wall the more fixings the better, surely ... after all, no one would ever dream of hanging a heavy swivel/tilt plasma tv with just two Rigifix fixings on even a solid wall? :-) Good video though, I enjoyed it, and I'll always have my supply of Rigifix handy just in case!

I have used these for so many installations, follow the instructions using the right drill bit for the hole (like any other anchor bolt) and they out perform any other product designed to do this job. I have used them for TV installations as well as boom arm mounted projectors. They give you complete peace of mind that they will not fall down - this is essential when your installing in an environment in which you/the end user could abuse the mounting i.e. kids swinging on it like monkeys

I hope these work; I have bought 6 (about £1 each, inc delivery). Again dot & dab wall, new home, need to mount TV, with articulating bracket, on a wall with no vertical studs available. Just need to ensure I get into the bricks & not the mortar, but with 6 to hold 40Kg I am likely to get at least 2 in brick, I hope! So these better work!

This is demonstrating the 'Rigifix' which is the only fixing on the market that will span a cavity and secure over 250kg!! It is perfect for plasma TVs, kitchen cabinets. Curtain poles indeed anything heavy onto a dry lined or light density block wall.....

where's the plasma then..?.oh i get it. It would of fallen off 5 times before they got it right. The chewing of gum adds to the builder look. All he needed was to show bum cleavage, a copy of the Sun in the back pocket and a cup of tea i'd have been more convinced. Not.
