I know it’s crazy. I’m Generation X. I still shake everyone’s hand that I meet. It’s out of respect to relay the message. I’m kind person too. It depends on where you live and how strategic you buy. My house has appreciated over $100k in the last 4 years. If you subtract what it would cost me to rent from my mortgage payment.. I wouldn't have the same amount of net worth. So the true answer is it depends. And now I have taken some of that equity and bought another home that has an ROI of 36%.

Buying a house is personal rent control. Just get a fixed mortgage to prevent increases due to rate changes. The only thing to change are taxes and insurance. But you won’t get landlord surprise increases that’s force you to move. Don’t buy too much house.

Could be ..but I've also seen where an opportunity comes out of nowhere and people are risk adverse because they already have their home. They actually have the money to invest but don't want to risk decreasing the nest egg. Overall they still are doing pretty good but I know they regret not being able to make the investment and get the ROI. But that's life right!

I bought my home because it was $50 more per mo than my rent. It had just been remodeled all new flooring, etc. if a lot more than rent, not always worth it

Dude. The maintenance fees. The insurance and taxes are enough to break you if you're not prepared. H/O insurance can be 3k a year. Some taxes can be double that. Home repairs can be debilitating.
