I just received some hand scribbled mix notes for a FIRST REVISION mix and instead of just giving notes, the client claims that I went in and selected the worst possible takes on purpose (their words note mine) and that I need to sit myself down and ask myself why I would do such a thing…

@officialdiomer6 ай бұрын
@@HomeStudioHangout mainly using the Neve MBT going into the Neve MBP for my masters to add Blue and Red silk, super light compression (if any at all), and some top end! Maybe some widening but I barely touch it and if I do, I use the SFE on the MBP. Then I bring the mixes back in the box to do some clipping, Oxford Inflator for some more loudness, Soothe 2 and small EQ touches with Pro-Q3, and then my final limiter. I know pros say you should outsource your mastering, but I like the results I’m getting with this workflow!

@@officialdiomer That's awesome! I think in today's world, being able to master on your own can bring more value to the people you work with and keep budgets a little more in an affordable range as well! Love the use of analog EQ you mentioned to add that extra touch to the tracks!

@@HomeStudioHangout oh ya, after playing “hired gun”/musical mercenary in Nashville for ten years I was like “oh ok I think I’m done now.” 8 years later I’m trying to carve out something new and true to myself. Trying to remember how to enjoy making music. I’d say again, but there was always the ulterior motive of “getting something more” from whatever I tried to create. I will say that, the “fuck it, why not” mentality has finally started to set in and I’m finding much more freedom to create and less shame about the things I’m creating. The shame and imposter shit isn’t gone, but the volume is decreasing at least.

i don't see it being any different as KZbin with their minimum subscribers/watchtime requirements. the people who are most likely going to be "wiped out" by this most likely wouldn't be making that much money form streams. Also that 0.5% is another 15 million that will go back into the artist royalty pool.
@HomeStudioHangout Жыл бұрын
Yea the more I’ve thought about it the more it makes sense. Especially those that are used to the KZbin monetization stuff

yeah cause Peter McKinnon did a video when they rolled it out on YT where he showed the stats for his channel at that time period, and he was making about $20 a month from adsense, so his perspective is that it would weed out anyone whos not taking it seriously and make room for the people who are @@HomeStudioHangout

Good show guys! Just some additional info here, we collaborated with Shure on the SM7dB through licensing our patented Cloudlifter circuitry, which they then tuned for specifically for the mic. Also, you mentioned our ribbon mics, which isn't a 44 clone but rather modern mic inspired by that platform. The Cloudlifter was originally designed as the active circuit for our 44A, but has proven useful for low output dynamics like the SM7B and many others. So the SM7dB really brings it full circle in a cool way. Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much for the info! I had a hunch that you guys might be involved with the new update so it’s cool to see that get encompassed into the system! As far as the 44a I’m stoked to get a couple and try them out on some tracking sessions! Thanks again for the love! ❤️
