Thankyou so much. That means alot. Yes it is hard to make the videos good for all. I think its a case of making sure that you dont film to much. That the pace is good. I think my videos could be better but thats more money and time. Maybe one day lol As I said in my opening video this is for fun and giving back.

Nice work. With the taped off areas for where you weld, being bare metal. Wont those rust between the body and the sill, since you have no primer or anything on there? Would it not be better to use weld through primer? Its quite a lot of surface area that is unpainted, with only some spot welds amongst it, all the rest is bare metal and will just rust wont it?
@classicminilife
@classicminilife 7 ай бұрын
Many Thanks. Yes I see that others do this but I found that the welds didnt bond as well through the primer. So have decided that i will go bare ;-) I am going to see how things last and if needed I know how to do it lol Then I can always feedback and let you guys know.

If that's of any help, I use zinc primer but more often then not it will burn out de coating near the welding area and that's the some as if there was no coating at all. Therefore its best to not coat near the area you'll be welding. I try to be strategic and leave open areas when I can paint the inner areas afterwards. In other case i don't have that luxury and have to resort in drill holes and sparing the inside with waxoil or similar.

Hi new to this channel, I started my Trade on Minis @ just 14 [South Wales] And the 1 [ONLY] Thing that Bugged me was the Useless Heater. Now i;m 52 and Mobile Crane Operator i;m GOING to get another Mini, Don;t know yet if i;ll stick with the A+ But get M.E.D and Specialist Components to Build me a Nice Twin-Cam [Very FAST-ROAD] Or go with an V-TEC. But there are Kit-Car Heaters that are Much more Powerful and have 3/4 Speed which in my opinion is a MUST.

me too, Current setup plan is orignal large valve head MG metro engine. 2 ring box fitted with 2.7 final drive. HIF44 and an exhaust which isnt too noisy. I was going to wait til speaking to you but as you have brought it up lol Obviously you will be seeing the HIF and the dizzy. Do you think I would benifit from changing the rockers or are the standard ones ok for the MG Metro Cam? Anything else I should think about like changing the CR to work better with todays fuel??
@ACDodd
@ACDodd Жыл бұрын
@@classicminilife 2.76 is too high. Run a 2.95. I also recommend some head mods (without internal porting) to get you some more power. Change the cam for one of my more modern profiles (ACD -RT) to get more average torque and lower the compression to 9.65:1 to make this the smooth motorway mile muncher you need. Fit a lightened and balanced/setup clutch assembly to ensure smith running and plenty of grip. My 1.28or 1.3:1 rockers would be ideal here.

@georgeclements2742
@georgeclements2742 Жыл бұрын
I agree that seam welding is preferable wherever possible to avoid moisture creeping between panels. Seam sealer is good but solid metal is better. Of course, seam welding increases the risk of heat distortion so you need to be mindful where you employ it. Hope that your subscription numbers continue to grow. I was already subscribed but I thought that Keith's recommendation was a kind gesture: his Racing Green is coming on a treat.

Nostalgic. Reminds me of our trip from N. Lincs to Montélimar in 1970 in a Surf Blue 850 Austin Mini Mk. 1. Easily got in three of us an our luggage, but folk travelled lighter then and we were visiting friends and could get washing done. 25 hours, 16 of which in France. Prepared by my own fair hand, the old girl never missed a beat.

I'm concerned that you haven't braced the shell before cutting out so much metal. Can you replace the door temporarily to check whether it still aligns ? From what I have seen in videos of other Mini restorations, bracing inside the shell is highly recommended. Good luck and I look forward to further progress.
