Sorry about that knee. ☹️ 5 days ago, I broke my ankle, doing the very same type of riding on very similar terrain, in northern MN. It will be a slow heal & I am out of commission for the season. ☹️ 50 years off road experience & I don’t even fully understand what happened. I wish you the best & a fast recovery ! 👍

Get well soon. I'm very sorry about your injury. It's bad to be out of commission for the rest of the season because you don't get the days back.

It's less painful as each day passes. Now I can get my foot from the car gas petal to the brake without undue pain.

Both the lateral and the medial meniscus are shredded but the ACL and the MCL are okay. The cartilage is worn out and I need a knee replacement but for today I got a cortisone shot to make it more comfortable to see if the knee gets back to where it was before the accident. I want to postpone knee replacement for a year or two.

Thanks for sharing this. Going to be photographing riders here at Touratech Rally 2024 and wanted to get a feel for the best photo opps on the course. Sand and log section might be the spot. Looks tight!
@danielhuffadventures59897 ай бұрын
Last year there were several turns where I had to stop and back up to make the turn on my 890. It'll be challenging to get through the sand section without dabbing and riders will be using a lot of "style" to keep upright. Great place for photos.

Thanks for sharing the ride. I've never been to Leslie Gulch or Birch Ranch area when the water level was that high. I have been on the other side near Watson when the water was high but not the east side. Great destination ride for sure. Back in the olden days (pre-covid) I would rarely see anyone camped at Succor Creek CG. Now you see a lot of folks camped there. Question for you, are you allowed to ride on the west side if you cross the ford near Birch? I thought about it once coming up from Griffith Ranch but was sure you are allowed. Of course I never researched it but just curious if you know. Thanks again for sharing your video.
@danielhuffadventures59897 ай бұрын
I have not researched the roads on the west side to see if they were closed or not. I just assumed that they were open.

Wonderful area. Glad I found your channel. In fact, my group of 4 (3 guys from Barcelona, and I from the Basque border on the French side, but living in Seattle) are coming through your area twice over a few days. On 6/12, we will be arriving from Bend through Burns and staying one night in Boise, and again on the 15th, we will arrive from Lolo Pass and stopping in Baker City. I was wondering if I could email or text you for advice on which route to take. Please, let me know.
@danielhuffadventures59898 ай бұрын
Sounds great! I'm out for most of June on back-to-back ADV trips. Are you looking to stay on pavement?
@lj11777 ай бұрын
@@danielhuffadventures5989 Hi. Thanks for answering. We will be mostly on pavement but will try to get FSRs and other dirt roads here and there are we make our way to Yellowstone and back. Seattle, Mt Rainier loop, Oregon Coast to Dune City Or, either the Umpqa valley or the McKenzie route to Bend, Boise area, Jackson, Wy, Yellowstone, Lolo Pass, Oxbow, Baker City, Sumpter and the Columbia gorge before heading back to Seattle. It's a loose plan. I'd love to take the time to see places like Timber Gulch. Any advice for your area? The plan is pretty loose of course. But since we'll start on the 9th, we should have pretty good conditions.
