Questi sono cantanti d’opera signori…e qui mi taccio perché non voglio fare nomi di attuali “star”, con voci ingolate, costrette, parodie operistiche. Meno male che questi grandiosi artisti hanno potuto essere registrati, tanta arte è preziosa, nutrimento per l’anima e appagamento estetico per le orecchie. Grazie Ghena.

what a fantastic bel canto singing, maybe today's stars like Netrebko could learn something from real singers like Caballe, Callas, Renata Tebaldi ansdso on. Bel canto technique is here so perfect that i have goosebumps every time i hear this, and i discovered this performance 15 years ago

I sent this to a mezzo soprano who was truly splendid but kept comparing her voice to lyrical soprano for her to see how beautiful the tone of mezzo are. She was inspired and practiced it and sent me an audio. She nailed it and it was so beautiful!

Sound may be better but the video is horrible. Can barely see her facial expressions. And that is one of the best parts of seeing a Jessye performance. She puts her own self into.

This is as hauntingly beautiful in all it’s sadness and longing for the story of love and betrayal. It’s like seeing a Maria Callas performance , that’s how great this version is , in my humble opinion. And Yes , this video is so perfect a performance that it humbles me every time , and then the tears start to flow , and I’m happy once more.

One of my absolute favorites on KZbin ! What an awesome amazing performance, would love to have been there. God I miss New York City Lincoln Center and the great Jesse Norman !
