I'm Jamaican. The food ain't all that. It's average Jamaican food. American people don't understand good Jamaican food because they don't eat it all the time and certainly don't cook it at home. I've seen way better.

Totally love this. Some vendors use a red sauce and others have a brown one. In addition to the oysters, there are some pieces of lettuce in it, too. Comfort food.

i give mam a 7. NYC unfortunately is not a city for Viet food. They have so many other wonderful options but viet food is underwhelming and mid. OC, Eden Center, Houston, Dallas, Boston all have way better viet food

Coming from Singapore and seeing this, I shudder at the thought of paying exorbitant New York prices for what is essentially a cheap dish here. New York is just way over priced.
@RecTeamNYCАй бұрын
This is hard to argue with. That said, if you're going to pay NYC prices, it should at least be good, right!?
@foodmoreАй бұрын
@@RecTeamNYC I sure hope it’s good. I’m literally here right now in nyc actually. 😂
@knowyourhistoryАй бұрын
Doesn't your government subsidize the price of these cheap foods? It probably costs a lot more than when you pay.
@Haleo7Ай бұрын
@@knowyourhistoryno actually, this dish is typically served in a hawker centre, which is sort of a no-frills food court, where the price of renting a small stall is typically much lower than what restaurant owners would pay, hence the lower prices. You also cut a lot of costs not having to pay for things like staff, high fixed costs like renovation, upkeep etc.
