Hey I know I’m a bit late to the party but what model # drill are you using and what’s your recommendation on Minuium torque for a 7 inch Nero auger for the drill thx
@VoodooNinja963 жыл бұрын
I'm using a Menards Masterforce 20-Volt Cordless Brushless 1/2" Drill/Driver Kit . The current version is listed below. I'm not sure if anything has changed, since I bought mine several years ago. It has 600 inch lbs of torque and has no problem powering the Nero through thicker ice. Since this video was taken, I'm still using the same setup and have routinely gone through ice up to 18" . Brushless and over 550 inch lbs is my recommendation. I have used this setup with an 8 inch Eskimo auger and it still works darn good! Model Number: 5272.2 Menards SKU: 2410480

Nothing new for Dovetail.. You will find trees where they don't belong houses in the wrong areas glitches that will not be fixed.. They release new software that is not tested or finished right. Look at the gates they stay down and no cars at the gates and the roads look awful just thrown together with huge bumps. At one point I drove a train to a siding just out of a tunnel to the right got out the train took off went threw buildings I ran after it I also went threw buildings this was in South San Francisco.. Then ran the other way threw buildings could not get close to the track ended up running under areas of houses with cars floating in the air.. You talk about sloppy work this sim has it.. Like I said thrown together not tested or was tested and found problems but Dovetail did not want make it right. Just send it out so we can make money kind of thing..

So I went ahead and bought the same drill, but I used the batteries that came with the kit. I did not have very good luck. We have probably 2 1/2 feet of ice on our lake right now, and it kept constantly stopping. I was able to drill holes, but it was a pain to have to keep restarting. Do you know if it’s the batteries that are causing the stoppage, or the drill itself? I didn’t bite the bullet yet and buy the 4Ah batteries. Seems like there was plenty of power by the drill itself, but it just kept shutting down. I did have the clutch set to drill mode. Thanks in advance for any insight you have.
@VoodooNinja965 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the issues you are having.The only battery I have used since I bought the drill is the 4.0ah one and I'm not sure if switching to that would solve your problem. Is it doing it right away on a fully charged battery? Blades sharp? Does it feel like the auger is binding in the hole, or is the drill shutting down while cutting smoothly? How far down in the 2 1/2 feet of ice do you get before it shuts down. I routinely go through 12-16 inches of ice during the last few weeks without any issue at all. Only time mine has shut down, is when the auger got caught at the bottom of the hole using a Nero auger. Without the Clam plate, this drill still has a enough torque to hurt your wrists pretty good.

My 1st boat boat I bought at age 18 in 1997 was a 68 Glastron v-142 Skiflite with a 1972 Evinrude 50hp electric shift outboard for $850! Used it every week for 5 years until the motor threw a rod. Great memories

@@bicvarcarapic6619 yes it should get up and plane with 30hp but with only 2-3 passengers on board depending on their weight. Probably would not get on plane with 4 people.

Nice auger, good for early and late ice only, blades will rust fast so i would recommend spraying wd40 on the blades after every trip. Watch for drilling through thick ice too, that bad boy will bend up the manufacturing extension pretty bad or twist your wrist around 😊😊😁😁. YAY for early and late ice, NAY for thick ice ! NILS all day 😎😎😎😎. The only thing i haven't done is use the clam extension auger with the clam drill plate, through thick ice, it'll probably hold up better then the manufacturing extension one, but is shorter. Will need a longer adapter for it....
@VoodooNinja966 жыл бұрын
Yea, use the Clam auger extension, as it works great. I went to a mountain lake and drilled through 18 in of hard ice with no problems. After a few trips, you learn to back off right near breakthrough of the bottom of hole. This prevents any catching or corkscrew effect. Rust wasn't an issue as I wipe down blades after each use with oiled rag. I sold my Nil's and haven't missed it.

I just bought the HT Mini Nero 7" Auger to go with my Clam Auger Drill Plate but I found it does fit onto clam plate did you have to make your own adaptor?
@VoodooNinja966 жыл бұрын
The HT Nero 7" will fit directly to the Clam Plate shaft. Are you talking about the extension that came with the Nero kit? It won't work. I'm using the Clam 16" adjustable auger extension with mine, so I can go through thicker ice without bending over. But I have used it without the extension, and it works.

@kentuuri82726 жыл бұрын
VoodooNinja96 Thxs for the info. I was talking about the extension. I cut off a quarter inch on the extension. I mounted the handle mount to it without handle. I am using a quick disconnect pin and added some electrical tape to bottom of Clam Auger shaft to snug it up in shaft.
@teamslaiyans38086 жыл бұрын
Ken T dont need adapter, clam adjustable auger extension fits perfecty. But it's still shorter then the manufacturing extension.

What a treat to see this video. As a young man, my dad let me buy a used Glastron with a 50 hp Merc in about 1973. My boat was a 1966 model SkiFlite, light blue on top and dark blue on bottom. My brothers and friends had such fun with that boat. It looked and sounded just like this one. Thanks for posting so I could relive a great memory.
