Hot tip for keeping the sawmill fed at high tiers, purchase two cuts of cars for each siding so that one can be loaded while the others are being unloaded.This also goes for industries that require pulpwood.

I too have started a new run for 2025 and this time open more slowly and not go past the coal mine and have the passages end in Alaka. I've done the single player most industries East to West up to Andrew's and back to siver interchange it was fun but your mate Ai had to do most of driving

If you're focused on logging there are a few mods on Nexus that would enhance your game quite a bit if you find it getting stale. Everything from new rolling stock to better sawmill layouts and capacity and better connelly branch track layout is waiting for you, should you want it. Also, if you decide to do Bryson, there is a Bryson Interchange mod so you can have two ends, bryson and Sylva, should you want it. Looking forward to your series!

so, when this game first came out, every vehicle had a winch in the trunk... did they change that?
@KerboOnYT14 сағат бұрын
You have to purchase a winch and only some vehicles can mount it

You can save on this game mode idk why everyone says you cant, it saves literally everything to the point if you die the weapins and equipment you took from the safe house are gone an on your deas body and if you leave game an start uo again the main menu has an option to restart or continue
@mercury7590Күн бұрын
Something I would recommend, if you aren’t dead-set on your route already - I expanded only as far west as Bryson, and bought the trackage to Sylva too. (AKA the only buyable trackage in place at the start of the game, and not stuff that you have to build). That gives you a 20-mile railroad with lots of focus on lumber and wood products, and a short route that you can run easily and without getting overwhelmed.
@KerboOnYTКүн бұрын
My plan is to not expand to Bryson unless I need the pulpwood from Walker later on. We'll see how it goes. I'm not in a rush.
@machetepanda966Күн бұрын
A great way to do it, is just focus on Passenger. Makie an express train and a local... mix it up. You dont need to take all the industries.
@KerboOnYTКүн бұрын
Season 1 was about expansion and finding the limits of solo play for me. This season is more focused on a small logging branch.

So it appears that the whistle mod is broken as of the current release of Railroader, and the mod maker hasn't updated them yet. The mod shows up in UMM but not in the whistle list in the game. So either this is operator error on my part, or as I said the mod needs an update. The caboose does serve a purpose because EOL systems did not exist, and I don't know if red lanterns are a thing in the game.
@AShadowboxsFSX5 сағат бұрын
Might depend on what whistle mod you are using, for me running just Better Whistles is working just fine on latest experimental build, along with a bunch of modded locomotives

I have run 8 but every 6 secs there is some random "arrr" "where is me raman" how do i turn that off?????
@KerboOnYTКүн бұрын
If you hear pirate sounds, then Run 8 thinks it is unlicensed. Check that your license key is entered properly or contact support.
Timetables are finicky to set up but totally worth it for a single player. Maximizes profit with fewer passenger trains because passengers only show up for scheduled trains instead of randomly through the day.
@CoryAY82383Күн бұрын
I actually sold my both starter engines, the 60 seat coach and the caboose in favor of 2 S-23s and an 84 seat coach. Probably doing the same build Alarka to Sylva and as always the ban on diesels on the WTFR. Also a nice speed up for tiers is to NOT select anything for your next day and just run one passenger train back and forth. So when you come back for day 2 you can select up to tier 3 for car deliveries for morning of day 3

1. You don't need to set repair destination, it does it automatically when in the zone. 2. Timetables are useful in sp due to passenger mechanics now. You will get more money with less frequent trains. 3. Time modifier was removed to make things simpler for Timetables. More skip options were added to offset. Great episode and new season!

I definitely need to start a new save and stay small, I started my last one and immediately unlocked Bryson and sylvia, which makes a single day take 3ish hours and I burned myself out pretty quickly. Way to many cars with not enough engines to move them all.
@albertetzel59252 күн бұрын
Its Sylva that really kills early on. The starting Locs can easily yank 1k tons from Whittier to Bryson. But realistically until you get to the Mine at Robinson Bryson only gets like. 3-4 carloads. Meaning most traffic is for the sawmill. Its a big difference pulling the 20 cars for the Sawmill from one end of the yard to the other compared to trying to bring them over the %2 grade between Cowee and Barkers. So as long as power is alocated correctly I can get a solo day. Whittier to Alarka done in abt 1.5hr Bonus is also having Wyes on both ends of the railroad.
@winky85742 күн бұрын
@albertetzel5925 definitely, it was brutal having to run double headers with the starting locos to Sylvia and basically just having to wait for them to get their and back. Alot of time just waiting
@neilharbott83942 күн бұрын
If you don't do passengers to a stop, there is no penalty - only penalizes where you do a stop and then decide to not do it. This means that you could run a passenger service from Whittier to Bryson, not stopping at Ela, and there would be no penalty for skipping Ela. I believe the programmer was saying that if you do timetables, then the passengers are encouraged to arrive in time for the train service, and wanting destinations that the train is serving. If you don't timetable, then passengers are more random, and go home (find another way) if they're left waiting for 4hours.

I’ve restarted again myself. Going to the coal mines and stop there. Interchange at East Whittier. Connolly always provided enough logs through T4. It only got dicey at T5.

One thing I have noticed about the repair shops: any equipment parked in the catchment area of a repair facility is automatically repaired regardless of whether repairs are specified in the inspection tab; however overhauls still need to be specified in order to have overhauls performed. This keeps repair parts cars at 100% condition while unloading parts for the facilities.
@KerboOnYT2 күн бұрын
That reminds me. I might need to spot the car of repair parts. I'm still not used to having to do that.

Definitely looking forward to see how this series plays out. My favorite setup as a 100% single-player is Whittier->Bryson->Alarka, to me running that feels just right, plenty of stuff to do including the copper at Alarka and long coal trains for Robinson, but not so much that it takes all day to run through. After that I went to Nanta and quickly regretted doing so, the run from Alarka Jct. takes a very long time with hardly anything to do along the way. I have not tried going to Sylva, so going to be very interesting to see how that plays out. I've found the AE-Waypoints to work very well, there a few quirks, but nothing major. This also allows for doing multiple tasks at once, so while waiting for the engine to run around the coal train at Robinson I can tell a shunter to push cars to one of the copper mine and another to place some cars at an industry in Bryson, then return to Robinson and tell the engine to push the coal cars up the input track, go tell the shunters to do the next step, etc.

Yes, the AE is great for solo play!

While you don't have to do it immediately, I would recommend at least getting to Bryson at some point. Having the extra repair and coaling/watering facility really helps, and then you can use the Walker branch to aid with logging and pulpwood.

Season 1 showed how much you can do solo. I've also been finding out the same thing days take awhile to complete the more you unlock. Can't wait to see what happens in season 2!
@VanguardNeo2 күн бұрын
Do you think they will expand the engineers to the point where even as a solo player you can scale the whole map and not have a problem? Maybe assign trains to a specific location and they will figure out what needs to be done on their own (probably wishing for too much).

Great idea Kerbo - I believe I'm going to copy almost directly. I left Railroader for a while and recently came back, only to find myself overwhelmed by all of the expansion opportunities, not to mention the new features in the experimental build. I *really* like the idea of just concentrating on one industry and being....chill!

This is my biggest thing with Railroader, knowing when to stop "scaling." It takes me forever to get through a railroad day. Might do what you're doing because the sawmill does actually provide quite bit of cash.
