As a born and bread gori through many, many generations back - I wish I had the words to fully express how much I actually relate to the same sentiments and feelings against western culture as Bhai Shamsher Singh Jee is expressing here. I sincerely hope I don’t offend or come across as belittling the experience of Indian Sikhs in the west when saying this - but I think I have felt equally foreign and alienated in ‘my own’ culture since a young age. Inherently and strongly sensing that, something is not right here. This is not at all how things are supposed to be. I think, in a way, that the common white man, woman and child under the power hungry white colonizers and imperialists - albeit with significant privileges - has been the first colonized, or enslaved, people under this suppressive, violent and severely unjust way of life. I just still feel sad every day going out into the world, being forced to comform to a society which is so severely destructive, and breaking the spirit of almost everyone in it. And everyday I pray for a way to build a society that is in harmony with Maharaj kee Hukam.
