yes. a very rare thing these days. apparently most of the temple elephants in Tamil Nadu have succumbed to tuberculosis or that is what the handler told me.temple elephants were a good way to make sure they didn't go extinct and most of them are well fed thanks to the devotees giving them food. there are very few temple elephants left now. sad..
