This puts more leverage on the mounts which IMO is not a good trade off for what seems to be a pretty minimal reduction in effort.
@wildersidegear10 күн бұрын
I agree with the comment on increasing the lever arm / leverage. I would only recommend using this say when transferring your kayak from pickup bed to a kayak stand in garage on level ground without significant potholes or garage lips. Per your point. This was actually one application coming from a customer. This design is staying as a prototype... not moving to production.

The system that comes on the Bonafide kayaks is much simpler and much cheaper to adapt to most other brands. The K.I.S.S. principle applies here, Bigly. You can buy a lot of lures with the $400 bucks you’ll save.
@wildersidegear24 күн бұрын
I agree with the KISS principle...for user experience. Simple to raise and lower the wheels. No lubrication needed, even in salt water, unlike the competition. No needing to get out and lift up the side of the kayak to insert or remove the wheel on each side. That sounds complicated. Make it easy for the user -- they will appreciate it.

@wildersidegear3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for looking at the video and giving a great comment! I noticed the shakes as well as I was recording. The Railblaza wheel has almost zero shock absorbing qualities and the frame is rigid, but there is necessary play in the locking pin. This particular ramp seemed to put the frame in resonance with the strong grooved surface every 1.5" or so. I haven't found that effect on other ramps. I should try the same launch with the balloon tires... they really absorb the road noise much better. Fortunately, we are approaching 1,000 launches across the entire fleet and the system is holding up really well!! Even on Hobie PA 14 or a 15' squareback canoe loaded up to #230 lb. So far we have configurations installed on over 30 different kayak hull designs and uniformly working great!!

Launch and land in a difficult muddy area in under 6 minutes-Awesome!. It doesn't matter what cart system you use, there will always be some amount of effort to launch and load by yourself. That being said, nothing does it easier, quicker and more safely than the Freedom Launcher. And most free standing unattached carts would have failed at this muddy launch. The Freedom launcher with both sea tug wheels and available pontoon wheels gives the kayak angler every option to land in the widest variety of ground conditions more easily and effectively than anything else on the market,. Full disclosure I am an owner and user of the Freedom Launcher on my PA14. I have used a variety of carts including Wilderness systems adjustable carts. I have had native sidekick (similar to boonedox landing gear) on a previous kayak bonafide p127. Nothing works any easier or more efficiently than the Freedom Launcher. The big step saver in using the Freedom launcher is no extra lifting of a heavy kayak to place a cart underneath it or having to insert the native sidekick/boonedox landing gear axles into the mounting bracket on the kayak. This saves your back from injury and it makes it possible for more individuals of varying strength and age to move and use larger heavier kayaks with ease if they want to use bigger boats. I am 61 and I am so grateful to David and his invention of the Freedom launcher that enables me to use my Hobie PA14. The Freedom Launcher is a game changer when it comes to launching, landing and moving a kayak around. Thank you David!
