The only time I realised that his GPS navigation is turned on was when he went through the tunnel. All other times the screen was practically unreadable in broad daylight. I have an R1200C and I contemplated installing a navigation unit. But it seems to me that it's nearly impossible to use it during day time :(
@xscout776 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's the angle of the camera that makes it impossible to see the screen in the video. I could see it while driving my C. The navigation system was a Zumo 660, meanwhile I have the BMW navigator 6 and it's screen is much better (but anyway also the Zumo 660 worked in the C).
@pukavita6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. I'll look into it.
@helioslens76306 жыл бұрын
Was it a blow by cylinder at 10:37?
@pukavita6 жыл бұрын
No. It was most likely the peg. On the R1200C the peg touches first and if you continue leaning further the peg folds up and pushes your foot up giving you ample warning that you're on your way to shave you cylinder head.

Northern Italy, in the Alps; Gavia is a harrowing pass between Bormio (of Stelvio Pass fame) and Ponte di Legno. Very few know of the gavia Pass and even fewer actually dare ride it - so this is a relatively rare clip. Well done.
@Gr8Layks8 жыл бұрын
Great sounding bike. Love the R1200C, despite the tough reviews. Beautiful country too--though on US roads, you'd only have to shift about 5% as much as you did here. Lots of traffic!!
@mauriziopescatori46068 жыл бұрын
The US does not have mountain passess as steep and certainly Italy is a LOT more crowded that the US! Imagine crowding 60 million people in New England - then add the Alps!
@wolfnomis81383 жыл бұрын
Well, that pass was in operation centuries before columbus discovered the west passage to India. It is old Europe (good or bad is in the eye of the beholder). Some years ago the south ramp of that pass wasn't paved. Much less traffic back then... Cruising on curvy highways is for boys. Riding the tiny passes of the alps is for men and I guess Himalaya or South American passes is for experts

@xscout779 жыл бұрын
VeeDubJohn The C is my first bike. You'll learn to ride it. But if it hasn't run the last 10 years you should really change all liquids (oil, brake and clutch fluid). Do you live in Europe? You will find a really good english Cruiser Forum here: chromeheads.org
@VeeDubJohn9 жыл бұрын
xscout77 Yes, I'm a member there. In fact I live about fifteen minutes away from one of the moderators, and even closer to another member. I live in New York, on Long Island. Some people have said that due to it's relatively low horse power, the R1200C might be a good first bike, but I think I want to start on something a lot smaller. Regarding the long layup, it's pretty bad inside the gas tank. I'm pretty sure it's all rust in there, but I'll take care of that and hopefully not mess up the beautiful custom paint:-)
