So will you recommend it for video editing and animations?
@AveryCheng3 күн бұрын
I would not since it doesn't have a dedicated GPU, and there are many other laptops out there that will be much better for video editing and animation.

You can call me a spectre the way I'll be getting my white goo on you
@AklSpectre9 күн бұрын
I bought hp spectre after watching your video, been using it for past 4 months..I roughly get around 6 hours of battery life for just watching lecture videos, browsing like light usage which seems definitely not enough for university student like me. I wish there should have been more ports and I really hate this jaw drop usb type A port...for the high price point, they should have given a dedicated nvidia gpu in 14 inch model.
@AveryCheng8 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experiences! It definitely would be interesting to see what a Spectre with a dedicated GPU would perform like...

Right now HP has the Slate blue with Windows Home and 1gb SSD for 1150 or Nightfall Black with Windows Pro and 2gb SSD for 1400...is that worth 250 bucks?
@AveryCheng11 күн бұрын
Assuming they both have the same RAM, you're an average user (i.e. you won't notice the difference between Windows 11 Home and Pro), and you don't care about the colour, it really all depends on how much you're gonna be storing on your laptop. I personally wouldn't upgrade just for more storage, but I can't decide that for you.

is it good when gaming?

For light titles, the integrated graphics on this laptop should be fine. But since it doesn't have a dedicated GPU, I wouldn't recommend it if you're gonna be doing any somewhat serious gaming on it

Im thinking about this laptop or a macbook pro. I mainly need it for work . I like touchscreen but i had an hp envy and now lenovo yoga. Both had to be replaced within 2 years. Im not a mac fan but everyone i know who has one lasts multiple years. I think im fine converitng if it means my laptop is fine for 5 years or more. Any thoughts on this ?
@AveryCheng12 күн бұрын
I can't speak to the longevity of this laptop yet since it's only been out for a year and I've only had it for just over six months. I'd suggest maybe ranking the things that you value in a laptop from most to least important, and assess based on that. Hope that helps!

Need a new Laptop and got a great deal: HP Spectre Intel Core Ultra 7 155H 32 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD Should I just take it? It may be overkill for my needs (just a business student) but for this price i'm just too tempted. I'm a tech enthusiast so having nice specs for a really good price is what i really look for. My budget is around that pricetag so i don't know if there are better options or do you have any recommendations I could look into aswell?
@AveryCheng17 күн бұрын
I'm not really too well-versed in what else is on the market at this price point, but if it suits your needs/wants and it's a good deal, then you won't be unhappy with it

Do you think their Ultra Impact case could be worth it? I saw a design I really like that is somewhat clear but I just wanted an idea, I am stuck between that or dbrand/the other one your mentioned but am afraid of impact.
@AveryCheng17 күн бұрын
If you are dead set of that design that you want, then it could be a good option. But there are definitely other protective cases out there that are much cheaper, more protective, but more plain.

Brother, very nice premium review just like the Spectre itself! Loved everything in the video and that's exactly how I felt after using it for 2 months. Good thing is I don't have all the problems you mentioned like Speaker and palm rejection. Mine is absolutely flawless. I did make sure to upgrade to the latest driver and Windows 24H2. I'm lucky to live in California and have 10+ bestbuys within driving distance. Guess how much I banked this bad boy? $600 bucks! The Ultra7155H 16G 1T version from open box deals during Black friday. I'm still in shock after 2 months to be honest. That night I just couldn't believe my eyes about the Specs on this deal. It was on huge sale from $1600 to $1150 I believe, then I saw Openbox for half the price??? Like what in the heck is going on. The overall build and experience rivals MacB Pro. I did some basic online cpu silver bench and GPU bench, CPU is beating MBP base model, GPU is a little behind. This openbox only had 2 battery life cycles on it, brand new lol, someone just opened the seal and returned basically. Windows laptop is really catching up now, the new Intel Ultra + Intel Arc improved so much from battery efficiency to graphics for gaming, I believe the 256V next generation intel ultra is going to add battery life even more. I mean with these sub $800 flagship openbox laptops, anything else is not even close to competition in the market. Last week, I scored another openbox Mac Mini M2 base model for $245, this is like day light robbery. U.S. is a wonderful place.

What annoys me the most is not the courses of EE is being hardcore as hell, but there are dumb required humanities studies. I am really bored about writing dumb ass articles on social sciences. When the signal and systems level of courses are waiting at the corner with a disastrous exam that will surely dominate you, the situation becomes a social study itself.

Now the exams take more parts of the total grades: Mid1 15%, Mid2 20%, and Final 45%, thats 80% out of 100... Its gonna be so hard for me TAT

That's actually slightly less than what I had (17%, 17%, 48%, totaling 82%)

Hi Avery, just finished term 1. My plan for the second term is to move math152 to summer session since 152 and apsc160 are the only two courses that are available. Is this a bad idea? will it effect my understanding for phys 170 a lot? Awesome video man🎉
@AveryChengАй бұрын
You'll have to spend a bit of time at the beginning of the course to understand concepts such as matrices, vectors, dot products, cross products, and solving systems of equations, as they are fundamental to solving the problems in PHYS 170. They will be briefly glossed over at the beginning of the course since they are assuming you will be learning it concurrently in MATH 152.

Hey thanks for the video. It was very helpful. My question is relating to an iPhone but not necessarily this video. how do I determine if I need 128 GB of storage or should I pay the extra hundred bucks or whatever it is to get 256?
@AveryChengАй бұрын
All depends on what your current storage is, what you're planning on storing on your iPhone, and how long you plan on keeping your iPhone for. If you're reaching the upper limits of the storage on your current phone and you like to take a lot of photos/videos, 256 GB might be best. But if you don't take that many photos and most of your current storage is being taken up by just apps and the iOS software, 128 GB may suffice. Hope that helps!
