Well next time next year you'll be gone babe And i dont know what I'll do babe Will you hold me by a string, babe Will you let me wear your ring, babe Take a little time to process When you got big dreams you got to recess Well i wanna be with you Well i wanna be with you Nobody here really knows me They just tryin to tell me stories About the friends that they met in college And how famous people are their parents And I always feel like a dirty kid Well, I used to eat out of the garbage I know I should probably get over this But sometimes I feel like I'm still in it ... ❤

@@toddjneI moved back home to Asheville NC about 3 years ago. Beautiful music scene here, if you're ever in the majestic blue ridge mountains look me up. Hope you're doing well Todd. My dad died a couple of years ago and I still think of your song No Pictures of Dad.💖

@@donnaa4668 I just did some online searching for Asheville--it looks like paradise! I'm sorry to hear about your dad. Both of my parents have passed away, my mom a few years ago. If you're on Facebook, find me! I post some music stuff, but mainly (hopefully) hilarious day-to-day stuff...

The everlasting appeal of this song, and this original P.F. version in particular, is that it really conjures the teen desire for true love in the same manner as Romeo's speech to Juliet on the balcony. The song and vocal are universal and timeless, and it's pretty damn good poetry.

Lori had such a beautiful voice. I remember playing on a round robin bill at First Ave/7th St Entry. They would have a bunch of bands that wouldn't usually play together going on in both rooms. And I got to just hang out with Lori and talk about music that crossed into both of our paths. Not to mention we had numerous musical friends in common.

Hi Todd, these songs stand up so well 30 years on; they're among the best power pop songs there are, it's safe to say now. 'Twas an honor, and a blast to play kit on a few gigs doing this and other music of yours/Leatherwoods. Cheers! Regards, Doug.

I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times, with trepidation, will I kill the he cd I’m too lazy to burn a back up, two maybe three steps back from technological delivery. Love the (now) anachronistic reference to liquor store phone call. Touchstone record for me. Wish Newman wrote more, maybe he has…
@sangindrummond58652 жыл бұрын
In my estimation, one of his stronger songs. But there are others, and I see he responded to your nice comment. Having worked with him briefly about 30 years ago live, see The Leatherwoods and/or Lions And Dogs. Great stuff.

Hi Todd, I am an old friend of Lori's, from back in the 80s in Minneapolis. Like many, I was so very sad to hear that she'd passed away last week. I always hoped we would meet up again one day. As I am British and based in the UK, we hadn't seen each other for many years, but had always kept in touch. I would dearly love an mp3 of this beautiful song. I've searched high and low but can't find a way of getting hold of it on a CD or vinyl. Hope you don't mind me asking - and no worries if you'd rather not. Thank you, Andy.
