I've been looking around for other people's opinions on this book after reading it for the first time recently. One of the best 'unreliable narrator' stories I think I've ever read! I think I'll need to reread it to catch all of the points where he contradicts, misinterprets, or lies (to himself and the reader).

Apologies for the slow reply, Stephanie. I agree on the unreliable narrator stuff - I wish I'd mentioned that in my review. This is such an underrated classic of a novel, and it's so well put together. It's well worth a re-read.

I have just started reading mothering. It's interesting hearing how you came up with the title. At what point did you decide to publish your story?
@jtwpjourneystowordspublish430
@jtwpjourneystowordspublish430 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Sarah. It just sort of unfolded without a 'big' decision moment. it wasn't the first book I'd written, it was the second. But it became an important part of working through my grief. The bigger decision was to publish it - I had thought my novel would go first, but Motherling, an accidental submission, was picked up first. An interesting journey.

@@jtwpjourneystowordspublish430 oh! Yes I imagine that's why it was picked up! I didn't expect it to be so personal- that's what I'm enjoying most about it so far it keeps me turning the pages :)
