Did you try Lukmanier Pass from Disentis to Southern Switzerland afterwards or did you opt for Splügen Pass?
@gonetouringАй бұрын
From Disentis, we got as far as the Santa Maria Restaurant after the lake, but the weather turned really bad and with the San Bernardino Pass shut, we headed back over. The Splugen pass would have been a good choice though!

Enjoying your Northumberland videos. That's where I do most of my own videos, mainly little off the beaten track, Secret Squirrel routes. 🙂 When you come back, feel free to drop me a line for some suggestions should you feel the need. I recommend not adhering to the N250 route too strictly. You can detour to find interesting places and rejoin the 250 again very easily. Re. Your puncture. Sabotage does happen, some people dislike motorcyclists, sadly. Luckily, it was very slow - although it might not have felt like it lol! There is nothing worse than a slow puncture that doesn't even let you get more than a couple of miles before it needs pumping back up. Also, good you had tyre pressure warning to monitor it. Finally, The Gun at Ridsdale! Good pub, and I grew up in Ridsdale as a kid. Some marvellous Secret Squirrel routes around that area!

I have to agree 100%. I`m also in Northumberland, and there are so many incredible roads off the beaten track. Sundays can be "busy" relatively speaking, but weekdays on the back roads it can feel like you`ve been gifted the roads to yourself. The next time you visit the area, I would suggest exploring the Otterburn ranges. Miles and miles of incredible scenery, good condition roads .(but watch out for sheep poo) , and often not another car for hours on end. there are also some nice forest tracks to ride, and the gravel is finer than the Keilder drive. It is so quiet you might think you`ve gone deaf. Rothbury is lovely, and very biker friendly. Northumberland has so many nice roads, and great places to explore that one visit is never going to be enough, in fact I think you should just move here 😁. I`ve loved watching your videos, and just subscribed.

Those one-Side-open- Tunnels we call them "Galerie". they are in Places that just by Terrain wouldn't call for a Tunnel, but the Road needs to be protected from frequent Avalanches or Rock/Mudslides and they are also found on many Railroadlines. Avalanches and Slides can just go over them without ruining the Road/Railroad everytime they occur. I've heard Canadians calling them Snowsheds, but I'm swiss, so I don't know if that Name is used in all english speaking Places.... Greetings from Switzerland.
@gonetouringАй бұрын
Hi, thanks for that... every day is a school day! Love learning different things.
@samuelbhend2521Ай бұрын
@@gonetouring you're welcome :) For the bumpiness, well there's not much that can be done. the Mountains are in constant Movement, in Winter there's Snow for a long time, Rockfalls or Rocks that are moved by the Snow, Meltingwater that gets into Cracks formed by the moving Mountains... that's the natural Side of it. Those Passroads don't serve any real Purpose anymore nowadays where there are Tunnels under the Alps with fast and easy all Year round open Roads... History, Tourism, alpine farming and Hydropower (Grimsel) still use them to a small Degree. It's way too expensive to repair them to absolute Perfection, just to be bombed by Avalanches and Stones again most of the Year. They aren't important and used enough anymore to justify huge renewing Projects. Plus the Bumpiness slows down Motorists considerably, which helps reducing the huge yearly Number of fatal Accidents on those Stretches. That's why there are so many "SLOW DOWN" Signs posted along the Routes...

Really enjoyed this, thank you. Just for your background knowledge on the felled trees around Allenheads and Kielder: Storm Arwen, and then Malik, devastated the forests in and across Northumberland and these need to be cleared this year to be used for chipping mainly, as biofuel and wood pellets (you can't use windblow for structural stuff, because it's full of "shakes" and delaminates along the grain).
@gonetouring3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info! I guessed there would have been a lot of storm damage, but I was just so surprised around that bit. So that's interesting to know. Thanks
@greenstair3 ай бұрын
@@gonetouring The figure I have - my son works in forestry - is around 16 million trees were lost across Northumberland and the Scottish borders, a lot of these around the A68 - which leads past Kielder up to Carter Bar. That's about 8000 hectares, which is about 20,000 acres - it's lot of wood. The docks at Berwick are still stacked now, I noticed when I was there last week, and it's being shipped across to Europe for processing (we probably buy it back, as processed particle board and wood pellets).

That's amazing... shocking even! So much damage! LOL, yep, we probably will import it all back in.

Thanks for the video. If you overtighten the nut you will wear out the bearings prematurely. 190Nm seems really high for a regular swingarm. Various forums are listing 156Nm (which still seem high). I owned a 996 and it, like all single sided swingarms, needed really high torque values. Cheers

Thanks for the excellent video! I've been searching for the correct torque number, consensus seems to be that the 230 Nm is for the single sided swing arm MTS, 156-180 seems to be what's prescribed for MTS950/V2. Although my local shop just told me 60-70 Nm is much better. I wish Ducati just simply published the numbers.
@gonetouring4 ай бұрын
Yes, I couldn't find any figures which were consistent so I went for a higher figure. Since then I've reduced it to 190 Nm. Thank you for that information
