“Each person should do as he has decided in his heart - not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, and yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law - justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These things should have been done without neglecting the others.” Matthew 23:23 CSB Am I right in believing tithe’s were an Old Testament command which involved a tenth of livestock and produce for offerings. And because the Lord Jesus Christ made a sacrifice once and for all so we no longer need a Levite priest to make offerings on our behalf? Therefore if sacrifices are no longer required, is there any need to for the Old Testament requirement of the tithe? Also if I am reluctant to pay a tenth of my wages, and I decide in my heart to only pay 3% and any request to pay more would feel under compulsion. Wouldn’t I still be honouring GOD by paying the 3% as we are not under the Old Covenant and no longer need to make burnt offerings etc? If Churches request tithes then isn’t the same as requesting men to be circumcised, and forbidding people to eat pork and shellfish, as these are also under the Old Covenant?
