I like your videos and dedication, I am in my 60's and really set in my ways as well... I keep seeing the comments on your aged metal detector and I can understand your love of it and unwillingness to try any new tech.... Having said that... I finally traded up two years ago with a minelab vanquish 540 pack and then wife surprised me fantastically this year early on with a manticore. Before that Garret was my thing and to hell with anyone telling me multi frequency would stomp me... But then I finally listened when my last coil self destructed lol... My friend, this beach was a goldmine and you were there at the most opportune time. I would simply suggest that stubbornness might keep you from finding deep things your garret is missing. .. you can keep on with it, I woill sooner or later run into you on the beach with my manticore and wife with the vanquish and talk more about it. BUt life is short friend. IF you are going for it, go with the best tools one can afford. Wouldn't you hate it if someone went behind you and found a great stash from one of the sailors from then.? And in a spot you just went over? I ask because this has happened to me a few years ago and I lost out on a stack of 23 gold and just over a hundred silver pieces..... That too made me give up on old tech.....(mumbling under my breath the entire time about how lucky they were and if I had just gone over it one more time....) lol Since the new machines I have not gotten to go out much, health reasons but I did find 3 silver pieces of eight and they were 26 inches down at a beach near there that was eroded by storm.... My Old garret never found it.. Manticore did....

I hear you. The rule of thumb has always been to buy the best metal detector that you can afford. I have done that, several times. And yes, I'm an old Garrett fan. They are good machines and their customer service has always been top notch. I have the AT Pro (it was expensive at the time), a Sea Hunter Mark II (the big coil works really good, but it is cumbersome and unsuitable for use underwater), a 250 that I have had for years, and I still have my first metal detector, a Garrett Freedom One that I bought back in 1990. It too was expensive at the time. After all these years it still works great. I think I just may do a video about it some time. I also have a Nokta Simplex and a couple of others. I like my AT because it is tough and can take the environments. It has always served me well. At this point, if I am not going to find it with what I already have I will just have to keep looking and swinging. Anyway, I appreciate your support and input. You take care and have some good luck out there.
