Fact is, more penalties these days for going too fast. True that. I miss old school eventing. War of attrition? Yup. Probably. But you cannot make a horse jump or gallop this way. It's a partnership. Who says otherwise has never ridden. Sorry Paul. Sometimes my virtual soap box gets in the way. Before cellphones, I rode collecting jump sheets from x-country back east--Ledyard, etc--and my 14 hand pony got so hopped up he was jumping Intermediare fences backward. Guess what I am trying to say to the novice viewer? When they want to, they WILL. JUST HANG ON

I am sorry but I cannot stand it when a horse and rider fall, the rider gets up fine and just walks away!! Doesn’t look to see if the horse is okay. That is not acceptable!!! I saw this too much watching this, riders can do better!!

Love the ripostes (so unlike the FEI’s vids). Unfortunately, the ‘stats’ chap seemed practically a ‘non-riposter’.

I remember watching this in 95'. What a phenomenal piece of riding. Especially with only 1 stirrup over a international course of that magnitude. 🙌🙌 Mark Todd was one of my heros.❤️❤️❤️

Maybe using a saying like “ having a gun to the horses head” is not really appropriate in this setting? 😳😳or any setting at all really.

This is one of the best riders on the planet using the reins to adjust his horse's stride for optimum distances to the jumps.

I remember 2 years ago, I was telling my friend about how I rode horses n stuff, and she just said "Riding is easy I bet you can jump 2 meters high already" and I told it her wasn't easy to ride a horse, I mean you're basically taming a powerful animal and telling the animal what to do with bravery, and once I took her to the marquise, and she rode a horse, and literally got *traumatized* because the horse lowered its head and started eating grass 🙄 (we weren't even trotting man)

The horse has his neck in a natural position. The horse is comfortable with the bit and the rider has long reins. The horse has a perfect walk (when the rear leg moves forward to take the place of the front leg you must see a "V". Horse has a better walk trot and canter then any Olympic dressage horse of the last decade. The rider also knows how to sit trot, not many people can. I trained in Germany for years. This ride made me happy.
