The old Rose & Crown was one of the original posting houses. l am told that it allegedly burnt down after Rothschild was refused planning permission to redevelop the site. Tansy once told me she was convinced that the top floor of the Con club was haunted. l always had a wish to buy the old Britannia and restore it to its former glory. Never could gather the cash though. A nice video but l think you missed the Fishermans Rest.

Regarding tunnels, I used to work in the odfellows arms PH in the 80'S. in the celler there were 3 tunnels, one went under the road to the nags head? One went up to the britania? The other went along to the town where there were cells. They are real. They are there. (No longer sure of pub names, it's been a while)
@Fluffy_Buffy7 ай бұрын
That’s really fascinating. Were the tunnels open? Could you go down them?
@heermike8547 ай бұрын
1 was still open, very long dark and old. 2nd had collapsed about 4 meters in The third you could see along but was bricked up. Only a hole to look through. I presume the celler is still under the pizza shop. Unless they filled it in?
@Fluffy_Buffy7 ай бұрын
@@heermike854 I find these tunnels fascinating, I know there are more under the old part of Leighton buzzard going towards the church. I would love to explore.

Back in the mid-60s used to walk through this area twice a day between the bus station at Kingsbury Square and school on Oxford Road. Most is still recognisable but the rest of the town might just as well have been imported from the moon. Pleasant memories. Thanks.

Hello, I live and own The Peacock and records in Bedford archives say its been a pub s since 1441 and the late timber frame building man John Bailey says it was originally buil5 as a Merchants house so is older than this date but his surveys in the early 80,s when we were doing it up.

@Fluffy_Buffy Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback Derek. This is the new housing estate at the edge of Tring called Roman park. I took the footage for locals who are already aware of the development and just to show how extensive it is. I’m sorry you find the music annoying but I think hearing my heavy breathing would be 10 times more irritating. Your comments are appreciated and I shall take on board what you’ve said as I guess there may be more people watching who would like to know more.
