Arsenal is playing really well under Renée Slegers. It would be a shame to let her go now. Barcelona is still the favourite to win the Champions League, but I woud see Lyon and Chelsea as the greatest contenders for the title.

Group D very tough and it means at least one of the top teams in Europe won't make it out of the group stage. But if Spain win group B, the runner-up in group D won't be able to meet them before the final, so perhaps better to finish second in the group of death? Having said that, though everyone will say Spain, I'd possibly make Germany the favourites this time. And, surely with the squad they have, it's time for Norway to stop underachieving?

Arsenal are my pick to win the UWCL. it kills me to say that as a Manchester United fan because I hate Arsenal (usually 😆) plus Arsenal did what our club refuses to do: fire their useless idiot of a coach. Congratulations, Arsenal fans. It must be nice having a well-run club.

I can’t find the thread I intended (but got waylaid!) to write this on, but your mention of the young one being booed reminded me…you wrote, re the England v USA match, that the Christian girl (oh god HONESTlY, i absolutely know her name but i’ve been working all day and my brain has fried!! 😂) was booed? And indeed she was, but by the USA fans!! I know this because I was at the match, in with my English Compatriots fans, and when the booing started most people were like (Corbin Albert! Brain un-frying 🤪) “Why are the US fans booing their OWN player?!! I enjoyed the match - it was GREAT to see the US players but we all in my section wished that the US players, and Emma, had walked around the field afterwards (instead of just going just to their own fans 😢) because of course we English fans would have given then a nice reception. No one ever looked like scoring in that game, btw! The US had the better chances but didn’t ever really look like converting any of them, and England never looked like scoring but at least our defence held out! It was fun to watch, tbh. One thing more. At the end of the match Emma went over to the US fans and OMG it was like Taylor Swift had shown up 😂😂😂. The fan-girl screaming was hilarious, but in a cute way..like, we English fans sort of went “Aw, bless!”. And OMG 2, she has her hair all nicely done…she barely even brushed it whilst at Chelsea and we are vERY divided about that!! She was just Emma, at Chelsea, but now she seems to have had all manner of marketing thingies going on!! 😂🤣🥰.

I think Renée stays, but perhaps they keep her as interim until end of the season before making the final decision. The reason for that is to see how the team holds up once they add cup games into the mix come the new year. She's done a great job to steady the ship, no doubt. All the games they have won, though, Arsenal should have been winning them. Their start to the season was uncharacteristically odd. So maybe seeing how they fair under her when more fixtures come and games against the "bigger sides" shows where they're actually at. If that makes sense. Also not an Arsenal fan so you know it's zero bias here. Russo looks great. She (and the team) clearly didn't enjoy the previous coach/training etc. Definitely cool to see more women on the touchline as coaches. We need more!

You really don't understand the British dynamic. From the English point of view, we love seeing other British countries fail so we can tease them. From the perspective of the others, England invaded them and has held political domination for up to 800 years. Imagine being invaded and occupied for centuries, there's no other country they hate so much. On current form the group would end Netherlands, France, England, Wales. There is a history of men's holders going out in the group stage at World Cups; France won in 1998, didn't get out the group 2002, Germany won in Brazil then went out at group stage in Russia 2018. Unless Weigman starts picking players on form over reputation we'll be joining them

I'll be rooting for England and Norway. It's definitely a tough group, but England is able to win against France, The Netherlands and Wales. Hope both Beth and Vivianne will be able to advance from this group. There is also the group with Magda and Pernille. Both Denmark and Sweden are able to win against Germany. Group A is a very even group, but Norway is my favourite to win this group. Spain is favourite to win group B, but Portugal, Belgium and Italy proved in the past that they also can play well. Congratulations to Cassie and Taylor. Love to see couples who are not always in the front lines.

Hello Sarah and Sara. I had a friend who was convinced that for draws like this Group A balls were from the bucket of hot water and Group D were from the ice bucket. I assume that if the two Lioness teams go through, they will at least be on opposite sides of the knockout draw. I also reckon it is a decent bet that Norway will not have an 8-0 defeat this group stage by the host country. If Ireland had got through, they would have been up against familiar opponents. Congratulations to newly weds.

I’m Scottish and I’m usually ABE (anyone but England) when it comes to sport, but when it comes to women’s football if Scotland can’t be there then England are my next best choice! It would have been nice to have an easier run in but I totally agree with the comments that you have to beat the best to be the best and IF England can come out of this group, there is a strong chance they can go on to win the tournament
@edcleverley93332 күн бұрын
English and really wanted Scotland and Ireland to win their playoffs. Would have loved to have seen Weir, Cuthbert, Hanson etc. at a tournament unlike Wales who don't have a single player I'd turn the TV on for
@michaelbirch52702 күн бұрын
Group A is the "easiest". Norway go into every tournament with a scary squad but always end up crashing and burning. It will be interesting to see if their "Golden Generation" can finally deliver on the big stage. I'm actually glad whenever England get a difficult group because they had such an easy run to the World Cup final (yes I know, that includes beating my Matildas 😭) it would have been fraudulent if they won the tournament. This group will test them... in a good way.

Katie McCabe is so tough, and her ego is part of what makes her special. Most male players have a big ego. Robert de Pauw was sacked by Aston Villa not just for the poor results, but for making personal comments, criticising players' appearances. Villa's Instagram post announcing his departure was liked by Kenza Dali, Adriana Leon, and Maz Pacheco. I'm hoping Villa can hire Renée Slegers 🤞And Alex Greenwood's injury may not be an ACL; Gareth Taylor has said that it could be less serious than many had feared.

Idk if what u mean by 'inappropriate player-to-player relationships' refers to the relationship between Emma and the player or the relationship between the players? During the period when I followed the Olympics, watched interviews with players and there on The women's game podcasts and USA official vlogs. they quite enjoy their relationship with Emma. Besides building teams and conducting, coaches need to be friends with players to be more harmonious and understand them. Although she is nominally a superior, she is not a senior executive, and even in most companies, being friends with superiors and subordinates can create a better working environment. This is also one of the reasons why she was able to win so many champions at Chelsea. mental health and motivation are very important. They mentioned that they have never experienced team time before where they can express their feelings, which is very special for them. This is also an important reason why they can persist until the championship, after all, they were formed temporarily and can only cultivate more chemical reactions and help each other spiritually. But you may be referring to the relationship between this matter and the players, and they aren't likely to make a statement about the internal relationship between the players and the outcome of this matter. don't think it's necessary to say it out loud about their relationship things They should have already discussed it. I remember Alex and Horan had previously discussed at a press conference that it was something they would solve internally because she had already apologized but had cyberbullying before. What else can she say? In the end, I don't think the public will forgive anything she says. Isn't it good to move on? Don't try to change everyone, I don't understand why you're so conflicted. I haven't seen you guys chasing and scolding men who discriminate against women and Misogyny has been going on for thousands of years longer than anti LGBTQ+

Hello Sarah and Sara. If the wind is from the North that weather, like our Norse ancestors in Eastern England, comes straight over the North Sea. I reckon Arsenal are trying to have their best team ready for the home game in UWCL against Bayern Munich, since they both qualified for the last eight, but winning the group gets a better seeding for that knockout round. If they do not keep the interim manager, Aston Villa need a manager.

*For last season for Arsenal (minus Australia post-season game), Katie McCabe played 84% of all minutes (2488 minutes across all comps). She was the leading player in minutes, followed by Lotte at 2292. And that's not including any Ireland minutes, which we know she plays pretty much every game and all game, being the captain, so yeah, I'd say she's tired. Arsenal are doing an absolutely shitty job resting/managing minutes for certain players, and especially defensemen (Katie, Lotte, Steph are in the top 6 for minutes last season). If she doesn't get better protection/management, she's going to be the next ACL, guaranteed. Caitlin also, they both need rest (Caitlin was 4th in minutes for Arsenal and was the only player to play minutes in all 33 Arsenal games last season, again excluding the Australia game; Katie played in 32). Hopefully your next video about them is good lol, though someone was trying to spread rumors about them not being so strong right now in the chat in the Ireland game, but if anything, I think they're both tired, playing a lot of football, and really just need the christmas break, and then they'll be good to go. And for the Ireland captaincy, I think she's fine. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is willing to fight for her team, teammates, and country, which is what leaders are supposed to do. While quiet leaders work as well, such as maybe Leah W, Katie's style of leadership works for Ireland I think and is fine. Maybe it's not everyone's preferred style, but the team doesn't seem to mind. And someone else said it but Kim is captain, followed by Leah and then Katie (who was captain 10 times last season). If those 3 are all not starting/playing, which only happened once last season, Lia Walti was the captain. *These past couple of months I collected all the data I could for last season for Arsenal and have been playing around with the stats in R, which is how I know this lol.

Arsenal rally play well under Renée Slegers, would love to see her stay as a coach at least until the end of the season. It can definitely be very cold in Oslo at this time of the year. Glad that Manu got some playing timr again. After Chelsa only drew 1:1 against Leicester, Arsenal can reduce the points behind Chelsea to 4 points. If Arsenal manage to win against Bayern, they will have a slightly better draw for the quarter final, and then everything is possible. I will be in the Viola Park on Wednesday for St. Pölten against Hammarby. Expected temperture in Vienna is 7°C (45°F).

Katie Reid's teammates should call her "Red" or...."Gingerbread" 😂 or is that too mean? Honestly Foxy deserve more breaks as she has played every single minute for uswnt and Arsenal. Got a scare when she was limping off in the olympics in the Japan game. This will also put Reid on notice for England looking to replace Bronze eventually so it's good she is getting the most premium advice on how to be a right back from an olympic gold medalist. Wonder if Jonas is questioning his entire existence right now seeing Arsenal go from zero to 💯 the moment he left 😂 has he finally landed on the conclusion that he was the problem 😅😅😅
