I used a drill press to get my front rotors off 'my 77. That was a piece of cake compared to using my cordless drill to get the rears off with the trailing arms still on the car.

I just pulled my hubs to put new bearings in. Whoever removed the rivets from the hub used a grinder (I think) from the back and made a total mess of the hubs. I was considering replacing them, but I grinded off the sharp edges and reinstalled them. Maybe next time I do a brake job I will replace them.

some master cyls have a longer extension ..which means that the longer legs of the tool would have to go to the mastercyl so the tool works opposite for my dodge ram booster/master cyl so I have to pull the pin out and turn it around to get the round end to the master cyl........are these tools specific to model/make or can they work on any model/make?.....and a feeler gauge should be used along with the tool to get the correct gap right? ANOTHER POINT IS SOME BOOSTERS HAVE THE PIN INSIDE RATHER THAN PROTRUDING LIKE THE ONE YOURE DEMONSTRATING THERE, SO THE LONGER SIDE OF THE PIN HAS TO BE USED TO REACH THE PIN . some instructions are saying 20 thous is necessary to pevent preload

Our email is [email protected]. You can send pics of your booster and MC so I can wrap my head around your project. Yes, 20 thousandths is good gap.

Man i love these old master cylinders,when it comes to bench bleeding them its a breeze, i have one in my car that has a little snout and inside of the snout it has a damn plunger for the low brake fluid sensor so they are just about impossible to bench bleed by sticking hoses in them, once you try to plunge them the brake fluid goes everywhere, i do have this tool shown in the video and i love it!!

I have done this and it works like a charm. Best C3 MC bleeding trick ever. No need to even bench bleed the MC. I ran the rear reservoir dry and simply raised the back of the car, pumped the pedal and eliminated all the air in the MC. Easy peasy!

1972 Chevrolet C/10… This tool fit my brake booster and master cylinder perfectly. I replaced the brake booster on my truck. The rear brakes kept locking up on me, after I installed the new brake booster. I ordered this tool and it was delivered to me in Oregon very quickly. I checked the pushrod length initially and found, the pushrod was 3/16” too long. Giving PRELOAD to my brakes from the very start. My foot wasn’t even on the brake pedal. Therefore, I made the necessary changes to the length of the pushrod, and there is approximately a gap of .015” between the brake booster pushrod and the master cylinder piston. I’m going to reassemble everything and check to see if my REAR BRAKES are fixed. Today is November 3, 2022 and I will update my post with the final outcome of this issue within a couple days.

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!
@fredlauten6493
@fredlauten6493 Жыл бұрын
Take it easy Schlipper.... the laws are for new cars and start in 2035. Plus there are exemptions for 30 year old + cars since most of the laws are centered around diesel engines. Are you just trying to stir the pot or didn't do the research?

Great video. So, after replacing a caliper I fill MC with dot 3 or 4, bleed that brake line and then use this MC bleeding procedure? What is a good caliper replacement for Corvette 1978 rear left caliper for a daily driver? Thanks
@cssbinc1
@cssbinc1 2 жыл бұрын
You should not need to do this operation unless the master cylinder went dry while replacing a caliper. Squeeze off the brake hose or push a Golf Tee into the tube while changing out a caliper. This way you only need to bleed that replacement caliper and go on down the road. We make and sell New GM Licensed Delco brake calipers. www.cssbinc.com or click here: www.cssbinc.com/corvette-brake-calipers.aspx

Can you possibly do a video showing your reproduction 1968-72 Corvette Power Brake Booster compared to an original? I see it being sold by the various resellers, such as ZIP, CC, Ecklers, etc., but none offer the date stamping. I also notice that the Booster Vacuum fitting is not correct
@cssbinc1
@cssbinc1 2 жыл бұрын
We made this Brake Booster as per GM-Bendix prints. Dating this booster is not easy because we powder coat the cases early on in the assembly process. If we were to hold some cases back for dating, it would be a lot of work to then powder coat it and then assemble. In reference to the check valve, there are several takes on what is correct according to the NCRS manuals from 1968-76 Corvettes. You can email us at [email protected]
@klaatu2

@@cssbinc1 I have a early 1970 with the original Booster and master cylinder. The booster is actually dated 12/19/1969. It does not have the Master Cylinder weep slot, like your reproduction. The Booster check valve has a square symbol at its center.

You are the same guy that bought my tool on Amazon, Right? You returned it, Right? It does not say anything on the item page that it is for your car. Not sure if it fits your car, but I do have measurements on a picture on Amazon, Ebay and our website. You will have to use the measurements and compare to your car.
@jopa8960
@jopa8960 2 жыл бұрын
@@cssbinc1 Yes. Maybe I didn't have it centered correctly on the master cylinder. The true measure for a particular vehicle hinges on the rod length in the tool. I'm not sure if the rod length specs would be the same in all vehicles (universal), for foreign and domestic cars. I'm willing to give the tool another try since I may not have correctly centered on the master cylinder. I will take a look at the measurements on Amazon. Getting this right is so important I have delayed mounting my new master cylinder on the rebuilt booster. Thanks!
