Just want to add, the bulletin says a new connector was added, the reason why was, to prevent leakage and throwing lots of codes. So this settles the Internet argument, just because tranny fluid does not conduct electricity. Somehow, the connector throws codes, when leaking. So, after checking solenoid resistance before dropping pan. I'm convinced, that all solenoids work properly, and changing the harness, should correct problems, as many people, posts talk,about, when researching the connector and internal harness and possibly external harness.

Thank you. Lots of good info. I was looking for pressure control resistance levels. Mine was coming in at 6.5 ,which is out of range because I have the new Holly pressure control, the bulletin says the Holly could measure 3 to 8. So double triple checking info, saves money and hard work. Lots good info here. TYVM

I have a question I have a 2000 gmc sierra 4x4 turn out the original 4l60e was swapped for 4l80e had it rebuilt I was told it only had one speed sensor but should have 2 front input speed sensor my truck has been working fine until day before yesterday normal acceleration hopped on the freeway got to about 60 and it slowed down and heard a metal thump or grind would that front input sensor have anything to do with that? Trans has been fine until now thank you!

I see what I believe to be the speed sensor on tail of Tcase but NO wires to be found anywhere... is it possible the signal comes from tranny? Where do I start to trouble shoot this? Thanks great videos
@Bretmckinney Жыл бұрын
I’m really queries to know if you have 2 speed sensors on the side of your transmission and if your cruse control works? Some newer vehicles only had one transmission sensor on the side of the transmission. I think you are correct about the one on the tcase being the speedometer sensor. It should have a wire going to it. Tell me more about this truck. Is it original engine and trans? I have a feeling someone might have put a trans or tcase in from another year.
@Bretmckinney Жыл бұрын
Also you should have a detent switch on the top of the tcase. Really possible your VSS is just not hooked up. It’s pretty hard to see the wiring under there.

I’m just wondering what is hot for this bearing I got mine running out like 175 the left one always seems to get hotter than to write on
@Bretmckinney2 жыл бұрын
I would say that’s normal. I think you get above 200’F and the grease might start baking out of it. 600 hours is the grease interval. But that is a lot of hours to me especially if the grease comes out between the housing and outer bearing race when greasing. Best bet to carry a temp gun and run them till they are starting to warm up and then grease or replace if temps don’t go down with greasing. What crops are you cutting? Another one to keep an eye on is the front cylinder bearing. Shut the combine down with cylinder still engaged and jump out and listen for roughness.
@paullucas3 Жыл бұрын
Updated bearing four years ago, maybe 300 hours a year. They will probably go out today because I’m saying this, but they’re still good. Five shots in each bearing every day.. Love my 8120 and hope she lasts forever. Titan in Pella iowa had suggested and installed the new bearings.

2 trany sensors for computer and a sensor for the speedometer on transfer case. I’m thinking after 1992 or 1993 they integrated the transfer case sensor into tcm to be able to get rid of one sensor. Your 4l80e case will still have a hole for one but will be plugged with a cap and the internal tone ring will be missing. This is normal. What issues are you having?

I've had a problem with my 95 4l80. The torque converter won't lock up. I replaced the TCC solenoid cause I couldn't get a reading from it and still having issues. In the middle of replacing the torque converter itself. Hopefully that will do it. If not I may just send it to the shop to get scanned and checked out. ☹️
@Bretmckinney3 жыл бұрын
Things that come to mind are possible temperature sensor reading low not allowing it to upshift. My dads pickup had that issue and it was the torque converter itself. It would Shift in and out “shuttle shift” then kick it out completely after the check engine light came on. Just because the speedo works does not mean the transmission Computer is seeing speed. I would also air pressure check that the clutch pistons are not leaking air. If it never try’s to shift I would say it’s electrical. I’m no transmission expert though. TPS sensors do go bad... let me know what fixes it.

Any codes??? Blink codes can help a lot and can be retrieved with a paper clip.
@Bretmckinney3 жыл бұрын
Yeah high speeds and warm harvest temperatures cause a decent amount of issues which these bearings. Greasing any pillow block bearing is a “shot in the dark” if any grease got in the bearing itself. Fuel lines back by the fuel tank are known to wear in places causing fuel issues and fires. On our 8120, our lines are showing cracks. I don’t think the fuel lines from the tank are steal braided either.

There is another guy that has over 60 videos on here on how to restore a 33 Oliver. My dad owns many older self propelled combines that we have painted and restored close to factory looks. Not all of them are in field running condition, but they all move under there own power. I will Poste a video when we get them all out later this summer. Restoring a combine is not for the faint of heart, it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time to make it run again. Let me know if you have any questions. 90% is self explanatory. We cut the header down 2 feet so it is easily stored and transported on a 5th wheel trailer....
