We played this piece back in 1973 and maybe 1974 in my junior high school band, the Westview Junior High School Vikings in Romeoville, Illinois. The school’s been renamed, and the band is probably long gone and if still in existence, certainly not what it was back in the day. We used to compete nationally in high school marching band competitions and often won. Great memories!

That’s amazing some of you are so young playing this. Doesn’t matter if you’re a high schooler or a middle schooler, it’s a great composition and a joy to conduct and play all around. Competition or not, just enjoy playing. This piece always made us feel so in the moment.
