I know you say wood hoop is best, have you used a plastic hoop that has a ridge on the inner hoop part to hold the fabric sturdy? Would these be acceptable?

Hello! You can use any hoops available to you, if they are comfortable for you and can create a good tension of the fabric ❤

Hello! It comes with practice :) Maybe our video about basic stitches may help you kzbin.info/www/bejne/qH-toZ-JeqtgorM (French knot is on 2:57 of that video). While doing a French knot, it's important to keep the tension of the thread with the other hand, also the size of the needle matters.
