This was a f*cking travesty Reggie's #27 wasn't retired. I also think Pelle Lindburg #31 should have been also.

Why on earth did MN trade Connelly? He was the first expansion player to score 35 goals in a season. He came to STL from Detroit along with Garry Unger, and played well for the Blues as well. He had the hardest shot we had seen up til that time. Exciting to watch.

Hockey was a lot more pure back then!!!! Goalies actually had to more mobile!! Nowadays they wear massive equipment that covers the whole net and they don't even have to move around the net!!!!

Hi there! I am working on a documentary and would like to chat with you about your Birmingham Bulls footage (can't comment on that video - comments are off). Do you have a business email I can contact for more information? Thank you! Video I'm referencing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWfIZKSKZs5rb68si=TI4geTvPurR2ANAK

Dennis Maruk would become a 60-goal scorer in 1981-82 with the Washington Capitals. That 'stache must have intimidated opposing goalies.

I watched this game on TV as a kid. Remember it vividly. Was heartbroken when Meehan scored that goal.

Favell had a history of letting bad goals go in at the worst possible time. The next year, the Flyers added Bill Barber and Rick MacLeish, among others and were a much better team - made the playoffs and beat Minnesota in 6 games, then actually beat Montreal in Game 1 in the Forum and took the Canadiens to OT in Game 2. Six minutes into OT, Favell whiffed on a shot outside the blue line from Larry Robinson, and while the Flyers battled hard, Ken Dryden's ' superior goaltending was too much to overcome and the Flyers lost in 5 hard fought close games. The Flyers GM knew they had a Cup contender and needed better goaltending as the final piece. The Flyers traded Favell to Toronto for the rights to Bernie Parent, (Parent had been traded away two years prior as the Flyers were desperate for scoring), and the rest was history. Parent had arguably the two best seasons ever by a goalie in a HOF career, and Favell faded into obscurity

Who is the announcer in the highlights from '69-'70? (It isn't Lloyd Pettit)
@tubesocksbrigade30319 ай бұрын
I like to say either Joe Wilson (another Black Hawks announcer in the late 50s early 60s) or more likely, Len Johnson who also worked at WGN as they utilized their on air employees in different capacities during the 60s and 70s

It's crazy to think: The Blackhawks won the cup in 1934, 1938, and 1961. By 2010 they had only won 3 Stanley Cups in their history as a franchise. Then, in 6 season, they win 3 cups: 2010, 2013, and 2015. Incredible. And now,, they're uhhh, well they have less pts. than the Phoenix Coyotes this season. 'Nuff said.

42:55 "Here's Chico on the right wing... here's Groucho, no that's Rob Palmer, score! He put it in the net, a backhander on the short side. Oh brother!" I didn't expect a reference to the Marx brothers in a Hawks vid. Chico, was Chico Maki. Great Hawks highlights; good & bad.

THE best player statistically (NHL/WHA) considering that Hull actually was the MOST fouled player ever! His stats are just short of Gretzkys, but #99 got a free pass (no hitting) from the NHL to 'sell' the game in Calif.and FLA., etc. to bring in more $hekel$ for the owners/NHL.

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAV TEAMS AND MY IDOL IS PIERRE PILOTE
@mr.blackhawk142 Жыл бұрын
I read Pilote's book a few years ago. I din know he was actually a very tough player, and why hardly anyone challenged him to fight? I also read that Matt Ravlich challenged John Ferguson in a game but Fergie chickened out! Matt apparently had a KNOCK-OUT punch. Too bad I lived in Canada and only saw a few Hawk games on TV back then.
