That's why I changed my availability only to morning shifts. Working evenings is a pain

In retail, the morning shift is slow, in food, we're suffering worse than night shift will ever know. 😂

Overnight staff at a 24 hr store as well. Less staff and the most of the deep cleaning goes on then. And it's not always that slow.

When I worked I always made sure my sections were perfect. I took pride in my work. People now are just there for the paycheck. Worked at Walmart. I quit about 7 years ago. Retired.

My husband worked at Sam’s. He worked mornings. He would go in every morning and clean up the mess the night crew left. I’m talking about stacks of empty pallets. Also full pallets just left anywhere. Merchandise wrapped badly and shoved up in the steel. When he pulled it down to fix it, it fell apart. Empty boxes. Pure trash they pulled from under shelves. Things that could hurt customers!! He had a right to complain!! He told management and no one cared. He retired at 62. He could not stand it anymore. He had been there over 30 years. They begged him to stay because he did his job and everyone else’s !!! Crappy management!! He used to love his job. The last 5 years or so were Hell !! People work the night shift to do as little as possible!! I worked at a Walmart. Same there. The night shift would play. 😡

Damn. So every retail job is the same then, huh? I want every opener to be required to work just one closing shift per month. They’d change their tune real quick.

Literally as apart of closing staff, it was this plus being made to literally do opening staffs work often by managers who would constantly watch us because opening crew would lie and say we were “slacking” when we would see opening crew take multiple hr breaks while still clocked in then come back pretty much when they had to go, and b/c some reason they hadn’t finished- me and my coworkers would just think, “you literally just have to come in and do these two things while we have to do the same, plus cleaning up and closing, so how could they not ‘finish’” what made it worse is they’d always have something to complain about and leave passive aggressive notes on the table involving things we did not have the tools nor pay to go out of our way to do. But let us have done the same thing every time they left rotten things or a complete mess for us to deal with, then we’d be looked at like we were the ones that were falling behind at doing our jobs.😂glad I left that place.

One place I worked at quietly kept records of all of day shifts complaining. Then made them close for a week. Compared what they left vs what was complained about. Then told them if they have time to complain fix it yourself.

hilarious cause the people in the morning have to get up much earlier and have to set up for the morning they both have the same amount of work especially cause 90% of the time the closing staff really don’t be getting it right for the morning people and the manager comes in all pissy like bruh why ain’t this perfect and ur like bro

once me and a friend were heading into this store, all the lights were on, there wasnt a sign, but it was empty. We tried and failed to open the doors at the same time like a sitcom or something, it was caught on camera. I could see it on the little tv in the cirling that we were RIGHT IN VIEW. I figured someone might get a laugh the next day lol.

As a closing manager, there's stuff left for the closing staff that's too much, so I always have my guys catch up and then have to deal with their actual work. Thankfully not everyday, but it's a little too often to.
