Hi, My great-great grandfather Ole Pederson Ynsgdal came to the state form Norway in 1864. He settled in the Wanamingo, MN area, and 5 generations later, I was raised in the same small town. I was always told he came from Yngsdalen. If anyone can tell me more about my heritage, I would love to hear from them. [email protected]

Greetings, Roger Freed here. If I am not mistaken Ole was my grandfathers brother who lived in Prairie du Sac Wisconsin. I have been up to the lake in the photo, but not up to Yngsdalen itself. You need a boat and strong legs to get to it. there are still relatives in Norway under the names Yngsdal and Hilleren. Supposedly the Hillerens also lived here and intermarried. There is a Per-Kare Hilleren in Hokksund who speaks English well and knows about it. Also Magnus Yngsdal is familiar with it down by Olso, but he speaks no English. I am looking into going up there this summer or early fall with a friend. If you would be interested too we could meet and share an auto. Be forewarned that Norway is not cheap!

@bdy1958 It´s very close about 10 min drive.Follow the road to a place called Veitastrond and you will se the place high up in the mountain. It´s on the other side of the river so you have to use a boat ,and then there is a ca 45 min walk up the mountain depending on how fast you walk its pretty steep. I will post a new video with more pictures of the place

My grandmother is from the farm on the left and my great grandmother is from the farm on the right . the place is abandon but are used in the summer for vacations, and fall around hunting season.i know my great grandfather bought the farm on the left around 1912 when he came back from america and changed he´s last name to Yngsdal (it was common to take the name from the farm you owned)
