ATHEISM poisons everything, smashing hope, beauty, family, inciting murder, robbery, rape, pillaging, sexual perversion, every evil imaginable is prevented by the beauty of JC life n Christianity.

Hitchens was the first person I heard to spoke the concepts I expressed in my head but never laid out infront of me. He gave me the tools to proudly leave my religion. I owe my critical anti-theist beliefs to him and I hope many people hear his words for years to come

This compilation should be named "Christopher Hitchens Listens To Charlie Rose Run His Mouth." Another way we know there is no justice in the world is that CR is still alive and CH has passed. A terrible miscarriage. They should both be still alive, and Mr. Hitchens should still be enlightening us.

Its so upsetting to see what happened to his friend group in the new atheists after he died. Was Hitchens always the only genuine one out of the lot of them? Was him being their intellectual centre and base what actually kept them from brain melting? Without a doubt, the greatest author, orator, journalist and polymath of our time. We have people that may reach near to Hitchens in one category, but it was impossible to appreciate in the moment truly how great he was. I hope Carol has been able to find happiness again after Hitch died, their love was amazing to see, just how much they respected and adored each other. Without Hitchens, Sam Harris has turned to brain mush and talks utter rubbish about many things he doesn't understand. One the one hand we can think, thank god Hitch died before he could see what happened to the new atheist movement, Dawkins becoming a demented old fool using the thinking he spent decades fighting, calling himself "culturally Christian", Harris playing into the fash movements and giving them way too much benefit of the doubt, like how he used to just glug and gargle Musk's balls. On the other hand, I think Hitchens would have been the first to call out Dawkins and Harris, the idea that Hitchens of all people would support Dawkins' transphobia is laughable, the guy was openly queer and I find it hard to believe Hitch didn't have encounters with trans women given his reputation
@MagicMike-n6uКүн бұрын
The thing is, Dawkins was always transphobic, why anyone is surprised is beyond me! As for Sam Harris he was always a charlatan, I remember when they did the four horsemen, everyone questioned why Harris was included and because of that his name was always associated with the other great intellectuals. Since then Harris's ego has inflated exponentially and may have burst in the past few months, revealing what I always suspected, a presumptuous pompous little man that pontificates without any real substance. I remember him getting his @ss handed to him by Noam Chomsky and Glen Greenwald and then running to cry about it on Rogan.

I just love his dissection of Hanukkah and the destruction of the Mysteries. “We might have been spared the whole thing”, meaning the millennia of monotheistic domination which followed. What a fateful day.

No doubt the late Mr. Hutchins has changed his mind about whether there is a god; at least he seems to have forgotten the fact of the matter. I guess I will listen to enough of this book to give it the old thumbs down. Continually conflating religion with god is the epitome of ignorance. Am I wrong in this observation? I expect to find near endless prattle. Hold my nose and sally forth.

'The gods that religions refer to is not great" just isn't such a catchy title, is it? He was not going to ruin such a cool title for better semantics. Is there anything found in the book that you have to criticize? That god has nothing to do with religions is something you might want to take up with the different religions. Let us know how it goes.

Every national church or religion has established itself by pretending some special mission from God, communicated to certain individuals. The Jews have their Moses; the Christians their Jesus Christ, their apostles and saints; and the Turks their Mahomet, as if the way to God was not open to every man alike. Each of those churches show certain books, which they call revelation, or the word of God. The Jews say, that their word of God was given by God to Moses, face to face; the Christians say, that their word of God came by divine inspiration: and the Turks say, that their word of God (the Koran) was brought by an angel from Heaven. Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all. -from the Age of Reason by Thomas Paine (1794)

I was kicked out of bible study by asking where Abel and Cain’s wives came from. I knew then it was a fairy tale.
@dmkbnin5129Ай бұрын
an interesting bibel study group you were in. there wifes were most likely daughters from Adam and Eve. And because they had a big gene pool it was not dangerous to multiply in the own family. And just because you might say that incest is wrong (in our times) doesn't make the story of adam and eve a fairy tale.
@KarlaFendi3 күн бұрын
@@dmkbnin5129that rationalization is so insane 😂 “because they had a big gene pool” where did get that from? and if they were human, multiplying with your own family would indeed be dangerous, that’s just genetics! unless you try to assume magic. It’s also not even plausible.

I don't need to be a snob when it comes to making fun of people of faith. I'm only writing about some of the comments below that have an air of false superiority seasoned with an inflated ego like we know the secrets. I don't know crap; why get bent out of shape over this topic? I 100% feel in my heart and know in my mind that god was invented by humans; mostly as a form of social control. I don't mind/bully people that believe. I am not an atheist nor do I believe in any concept/construct of any god. I am just Larry trying to be a good human. That's hard enough. If people have a faith in some form of a god, good for them. In a way, I am envious, but too rational to embrace that kind of faith. I do think in another 200 years, people will be more enlightened. For now, relax and keep thinking.
