I'm looking a the setup and trying to figure it out. Okay, so you have the USB out of the Tracker to the USB into the Intellijel USB. Then, you have Line Out of the Tracker split to the Line In stereo of the 4MS Listen. The Modular Out of the Listen goes to the mixer. This way, you can have Tracker control all the modular synths while playing the internal drums and samples into the final mixer. Did I get this right?

Very cool I have a tracker and I’m about to dip my toe into modular. The 1010 bit box and Erica Black sequencer are very seductive but I’m realizing that the tracker can handle a lot of what both of those do so maybe I should just focus on oscillators, filters, and effects? 🤷🏾♂️

Saw this over on modwiggler. Really like it. I’m still debating an Odessa vs just getting a few oscillators.

Wow, this is pure sonic euphoria. I've been trying to make something just like this for the past year but have been pretty much failing. I got frustrated and tried layering some kicks with the Boom Library Mutate Organic SFX but it just wasn't it. I know it may sound like I'm exaggerating but I'm being sincere when I say this is the sickest bass ever. You don't even need any other tracks, it's so dynamic. Do you have a website or blog where you explain what's going on to make this sound? Man, it's like my ears died and went to heaven. Do you have a download link? How long did it take you to sound design this? What would you call this as a reference, a patch or a setting? Do you have a name for the sound? Anyway, absolutely beautiful man, keep up the amazing work. I wish I could make something half as great as this.

Thanks for the nice words! If you want to make similar sounds, here's my advice. Most of the magic here comes filter modulation, and layering. The sound is made up of three synth voices. The first one is to get your fundamental bass going. I used a square wave with most of the frequency rolled off. This is what gives it the actual bass, bottom low end. The second voice is a wavetable that's fed into a dirty, resonant MS-20 type low-pass filter. Then I patched a second wavetable (same notes, but different wavetable) into the filter frequency mod. That's where the squelch comes from. The third voice just repeats this process with two more wavetables, but instead of a low-pass filter, a high-pass filter is used. This gives it a more crunchy, digital sound. Add a little reverb/delay to make it sit nicely. And then program LOTS of pitch slides, super low notes, get that squelch goin real good. Thanks again and have fun with it!

soooo goooood! how do the visuals work?
@DustyPatches3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The visuals are coming from the LZX Vidiot and Edirol V4 mixer. It’s a classic camera feedback setup. I have a LZX Sensory Translator that is a frequency analyzer with a built in microphone, so the set up can be used with any kind of music, doesn’t have to be patched to a synth.

That was so great! I Really impressive how your tunes maintain structural similarities to the earlier OP-1 pieces. Takes a lot of planning and resourcefulness in modular. Anyway, that ruled!

This track takes me back to standing amid the mountains of madness in Antarctica after flying days in a single-prop jet fueled by liquid percipience while gnawing on blackened fingers only to be side-eyed by sun, moon, wind, and aurora australis, as I cast ropes at the abandoned at the altar of righteous indignation and disastrous flatulence. It was a Tuesday.

Question: Does sequencing via MIDI use up one of the 8 instruments available? I can’t seem to find this in the manual. Also, can I control an 8 channel drum module via one MIDI track? I presume ‘Notes In channel - All, Ch1 to Ch16,’ answers my question, right? And man, this so so good 👌👌👌
@DustyPatches4 жыл бұрын
The MIDI instruments (1-16) are at the bottom of the list of samples/instruments (1-128). So there are quite a few more instruments than 8, you might be thinking of the number of tracks. Tracks are not assigned to instruments, you can use multiple samples or MIDI instruments on a single track. If the drum module operates on one MIDI channel using different notes to trigger the different sounds, then yes you could control it with one MIDI track. And thanks a lot man!
