It's that Japanese approach of slowly refining the same vehicle over a long period of time (many generations).

I owned an '07 FJR 1300 and loved that bike. Bought it brand new and sold it in '13. Took an 8yr hiatus from owning a motorcycle. In '21 I bought a brand new Harley Davidson Sport Glide. Two very different bikes but both are amazing. Definitely less maintenance with the FJR.

Ya I have ridden a few Harley’s in my day. They are night and day different. Both have their pros and cons. But I bought the Fjr for its capability and reliability! Cheers!

I was seriously looking at getting an FJR too but when I sat on one it felt very tippy to me. I also heard lots of riders have dropped this bike both sides due to it's front heavy tippy-ness when maneuvering it at super low speeds. I hope you won't have any issues. I'm sure you'll know within the next year. Gratz on getting such a beautiful bike and I know that thing goes like a rocket!

This video has shown all the features that the corporate videos do not. I own a 2009 BMW K1300GT which retailed for 23K when new. I don't know who copied who when these two came out but the Yamaha has everything the Beemer does for around 18.5K USd. The last service I encountered cost me $1095! The K1300 is no longer in production being replaced by an elephantine K1600 six cyl. and the R1300RT both in the $30K neighborhodd. This video convinced me the FJR is my next bike and that's saying something since I've ridden BMWs since 1966. Thanks for the info and enjoy the ride.

Hello. I have the 2003 model FJR 1300, ABS which is still perfect and reliable, one hundred and 10 thousand km trouble free km, checked valve Clearencence still in range, counter balancers slight adjustment. The 2003 model will achieve all day riding fully loaded 2 up. Shaft drive for sports touring. Centre stand. There is plenty of luggage space. Resealed front forks, rear shock reseal, all parts available at yamaha dealers.

Great Job. Just wanted to add a comment about something I do, which you already have all or most the parts for. I have a 25hp Suzuki on a wheeled stand in my garage. I wheel it out to my truck, tailgate closed, take off the cowl cover. I then lower the winch rope from my boat loader down ( both ropes at same time, I hang my boat anchor on the other line just to keep it taught and wound properly), the reason I take my cowl cover off, my engine has a lifting ring. I attach the rope hook to the engine ring and winch the motor right up to the bar, I then just pull it out a little, open my tailgate, then slowly let it down on its side onto an old baby crib mattress, handle down like the sticker on mine says. Like you I just push it in, it's the last thing I load onto the truck. Now at the Lake: I have mounted clamp on wheels on the back of my boat to protect my transducer and the boat. I lower the front of the boat into the water, attach the wheels and pull it back a bit( like to keep my feet dry!) I adjust my truck position, slide the engine mattress out onto the tailgate, attach the rope hook to the engine lifting ring, lifting it all the way up, close the tailgate again. I put the mattress on the ground behind the boat (of course tilt transom clamps are all the way open to full tilt) letting the skeg down onto the mattress, then slowly lower engine onto the transom, tighten up and push the boat on the wheels into the water. Now remove the boat wheels, lower the engine and let her sit vertical for ten minutes while I load all the gas tanks, net, rods etc. before I fire her up. You should give it a try, you have it all. When I get it home, I do the same procedure and put my motor right onto my wheeled engine stand and put it away. (always using the anchor on the other rope to keep it wound properly and taught) As a matter of fact I got rid of my trailer, all together, when I am lowering my boat off the truck I just use the clamp on wheels on the back of the boat and put a 4 wheeled moving dolly under the boat. I back it in until the ropes are just going to touch the garage door, put it on the wheels and park her in the garage, easy peasy and no lifting or straining at all. If you message me, I can show you the wheels I put on my transom. Also, my motor came with the engine lifting ring, but they are cheap and easy to find and ordered for any specific motor. It would be neat if you tryout my idea and post a video about it, have not seen one that I can find, I know a lot of guys dread the idea of wrestling with these heavy 20-30HP 4 strokes these days. Cheers Jeff
