The current Pastor has put on a lot of weight...wow!!!! She was a petite little young lady.

What happened to this great church 10 years ago the church had plenty of members, the Organ was used, the sermons were excellent and now disaster. This church needs new leadership or a dynamic surge or change.

I agree bishop that we need to get beyond the gate. We must not lock ourselves behind the walls of the church. Our greatest failure as Christ’s Church is keeping our Christianity to ourselves. We must take the Gospel out there to the lost world. The carnal are not often coming unto Christ unless we take the message to them. We must show them the love of god as well as tell them. But bishop we must never go beyond the “Word”, and I think that is what you are suggesting. We must keep the Word and preach the Word only. God forbid that any would alter the Word in order to please the lost. "

For my first 13 years, I grew up in this church, 1952-1965, closeted but loving God and loving the church, always ready and willing to worship in this space. On Sunday mornings, I sometimes "helped" toll the bell and I sat in the highest rows of the balcony; on Sunday nights I could always be found near the grand piano. I remember 1972 when the church refused to allow the General Conference speaker, African-American progressive, Cecil Williams of Glide Memorial, San Francisco, to preach. So, It is amazingly gratifying to see a gay man in the pulpit of this church. FUMC now is not same the church where I grew up, not the same church that practiced exclusion for so many years. Thanks be to God!

This is the first sermon I've listened to in youtube and I have no regrets of the 24:25 minutes I spent. This subject has always been on my mind, old tactics or ( methods) hardly work these days but we can adapt and learn from the past experiences to raise and guide our youths towards God, towards goodness. What a mind opening sermon this was.
