Instead of voice picking, they should have went with Motorola/Zebra/Symbol gladiators. The voice picking system have delay time compared to scanners caused by misunderstanding voice command, and telling you it did not understand you (all that listening and repeating are waste of time). Lot of workers are visual and kinesthetic learners, voice pick is meant for auditory. Nonetheless, it is worse system when you want to wear a mask (for sick purpose), you will need to retrain your entire words, because it will stop understanding you.

It's pointless installing a system this small. Your pick rate will be lower than static shelving because the shuttles can't deliver totes to the operator fast enough. Also, the density enhancements mean very little when the volumetric cost of the system is so much higher than static shelving. With only 8,500 skus it would have been cheaper and more labour efficient to just add more steel shelving.

True, I first ran a 140 robot and now an 85 robot autostore which allows them to wait in line besides each port, rapidly dropping and reclaiming the totes as the order is picked through. Without this capability, pick rate is not one of the present advantages

i don't hear you talking about the SLAVE O RINGS that constantly break and cause the rollers to quit rolling and causing boxes to become stuck on the line therefore causing maintence to have to go retrieve them?

Worked for Dematic for 20 years up until my retirement. Had a great career, all the engineers were very supportive and being engineers were very quick to take the Mick. If you're an engineer you'll know what I'm talking about.😁

Impressive. Need work on safe work practices, manual handling. Workers walking on pallets/trip hazard. Worker leaning to place carton on conveyor. We use push sticks to avoid leaning over.
