I'm all for the short stories, but... as much as I like the main xenoblade trilogy, I think i'll pass on playing them again simply for the fact that my plate is full and I would prefer X still be its own thing. Like, I don't think it 'needs' to be connected to the trilogy outside of being in the broader Xeno multiverse, though I bet some connections will be retconned in bc, ppl just can't seem to just let this world be its own thing....

I’m starting XC3 over, because my adhd meant I only ever got to chapter 5, and it’s a hell of a game to pick back up in the middle years later. Then I have to play the dlc story. I might play Torna, too. Never played that after playing xc2

If you see a rock turning into an enemy with the uncontrollable song playing in the background... just run.. Also play the beginning of the game like a stealth game because everything can kill you.

XC3 means a lot to me. No interest in playing 1 or 2 for aesthetic, game-play, and story reasons... huge time commitments as well, but I'm absolutely playing X! Hoping there's a chance Nintendo has another "oops" and releases the game early like 3!

But will the game have casual/easy mode like the Switch versions of XC, XC2, and XC3 have? That's what I want to know!

I think the top1 thing to do before X DE is to not expect it to be a straight story end to end like all the other Xenoblade games. I remember me as well as many other people expecting it to be just more Xenoblade 1 when it originally launched only to be disappointed that it wasn't what that game is. While I have come to appreciate what it is, and actually prefer it to the traditional Xenoblade formula now, I foresee that some people will be disappointed if they expect it to be a similar experience, especially after having just played XC DE, 2, and 3, which are relatively homogenous experiences compared to Xenoblade X. This game is way more focused on appealing to the Role Play aspect of role playing games, rather than the strict story-centric approach of most JRPGs. This game places way more importance on worldbuilding through sidequests, I feel like it's one of those games where you want to actually explore as much side content you can before proceeding with the next story chapter. Idk, maybe this game might strike a chord more nowadays with the popularity of stuff like Elden Ring, but I definitely remember this game getting a lot of flack in the past for being different.

I'm waiting with baited breath for the game to be released; I can't wait to reexplore the revamped Mira. And these short stories are something I love; I really got into them because of your video.

My recommendation to anyone playing Xenoblade X for the first time is to do learn how Defense and Resistances work. The game never tells you this (because it's extremely poorly tutorialized and many mechanics are horribly conveyed to the player - hope they fixed it in the game), but your character level and Defense stat don't really matter much for combat, especially because there's no accuracy or evasion penalty for level differences like in Xenoblade 1. What really matters are the Elemental Resistances (Physical, Ether, Heat, Lightning, Beam, Gravity from the Japanese version which I play, the US release may have translated those as something else). The resistance numbers you see in the character status screen are percentage based, so a 25 Resistance on Heat means you will take 25% reduced damage from Heat based attacks. Get a Resistance to 100 and you only take 1 point of damage (minimum amount you can take) every time you get hit with that element. If you know what type of damage the enemy can do and equip your team with the appropriate Devices to reduce those specific types of damage, you can win almost any fight at low level, provided you have the accuracy to actually land the hits. Most enemies only have 3 types of elemental attacks, so if you're having trouble with a particular enemy you can just hop on the Wiki (look for xenoserieswiki [dot] com, avoid the Famdom for reasons you should research yourself) and look the spreadsheet of the damaging moves the enemy has. Put Elemental Resistance Devices that counter the most damaging moves and you're golden. Also, some areas in the game have weather effects that damage your party with a particular type of element, such as the fire storms dealing Heat damage to your party in the Black Steal Continent (Cauldros in English). Elemental resistances up to 100% will eliminate the effects of the weather effect in that case. Unfortunately you cannot bump the resistance up beyond 100% and recover HP from that element.

you can swim to another continent like spending 30 minutes then to find creatures 70+ above your level and no checkpoints near for quick travel later 😢.
