I believe this one was taken to the Soloman Islands War Museum for storage. The ID for the aircraft is already known. I thought the Markwarth brothers giving specific instructions to use a pressure washer to clean plane was a bit extreme. This removed any trace of original paint. But, the landing gear is has been serviced with new tires and the plane was to be given new paint for the museum there.

Is this a private Australian museum? As I know of no public museum having a G4M.

+@BarkingSpyda This one went to the Soloman Islands War Museum for display, which is better than rotting in the jungle. Mr. Harada in Japan has a very nice private museum and he is rebuilding a G4M. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ3dqXdpi693mKc Paul Allen's museum had just purchased the G4M wreck from Planes of Fame before his death. No doubt this would have been a new project and possibly airworthy but with Allen's death and the museum now sold there is no information on the plans for the G4M.

Was this video taken at high tide or has the ship just dilapidated that far?

Very sad that Australia is stealing all these aircraft from the final resting place. Most of which bring tourism to these remote parts of the world that need the money that it brings.

In a perfect world these aircraft could be restored and then returned to Balalae to be displayed. For some reason this Japanese air base has fascinated me more than any other...

Perhaps a museum could be built on the island to house restored aircraft in the future. These planes need to be protected for future generations, which won't happen if left on the island as is.

Thank you for information! Please tell me if you know the place of the protected island. I want to go to see it.
