So some lore needs correcting here. The t60 was NOT mass deployed by the US army. At the time of the Great War the t51b was the standardized armor which even then only started to se use towards the end of the war. The t60 was developed by the brotherhood of steel and saw extremly limited use given lack of resources and parts to repair them. Bethesda sadly retconned this in fallout 4 by giving pre war soldiers t60 instead of lore accurate t51 or t45

The winterized power armor suit isn't technically the strongest suit in Fallout since it's only as strong as it is due to a bug. If I remember correctly, the strongest suit of power armor is the tesla advanced power armor mk2.

Best Power Armor is APA MkII from FO2. You feel invincible in that thing. Honestly, no Fallout games sell you as well on the Power Armor's invicibility as the original classics

X-01 is pre-war, its also similar but not 100% the same armor as Advanced Power Armor or the APA MkII from Fallout, its the prototype for it, APA is the finished version made post-war by the Enclave, while APA MKII is the upgrade (one is a mix of ceramics and metals, MKII is full-ceramics). The "Advanced Power Armor MkII" from Fallout 3 is also actually not the same suit you get in FO2 endgame. APA MkII in FO2 is THE best suit of armor, the "APA" from FO3 is pretty much T-45 tier and inferior to T-51b. I don't care if its called APA MkII in-game, the real APA MkII in FO2 is better than T-51b. You ask me, the "Black Devil" is pretty much the Enclave saying that their newest armor is bestest ever - govt propaganda, essentially.

If you have the "awareness" perk, you can see if they have energy resistance, thus revealing them as a synth.

Did i miss a retcon somewhere? Cause i thought it was very well documented that T-51b was the pinnacle of pre war power armor. And T-60 and X-01 and X-02 were made after the nukes.

T-45 will always be my favorite. It looks so rugged which makes the intimidating factor of it far better. Rather than the X-01 which looks like an armored turtle bug. T-51 I think has the 2nd best looks with it's more reserved advanced sleek look.
