Great obedience... my mom is the one I listen to. My dad on the other hand..... not so much. He does try tho. I prefer to listen to mom tho. She knows how to train dogs. I think my dad is jealous I listen to her. Since I came from the Shelter, mom taught me "leave it", platz, "watch me" command and she "pays me" in treats when I do something she asks of me.

Fellow service dog handler here. Honest question: Who is being more distracting to the dog? Random other dogs that if you ignored them might encounter you twice in store or you panicking over every dog you see and creating confrontational distractions? No, those dogs shouldn't have been in Walmart, but your anxiety has a scent, too, and it's likely making for a confusing cocktail when you're angry and anxious. I tended to do the same at first and all of that gets transmitted down the leash. I realized my health was more important than trying to police the world. Me and my service dog are better off for it.

I’ve been a service for over seven years now. This puppy is my second service dog. And in the beginning I did it. And seven years later I still do it. yeah, my anxiety definitely increases, but at the same time if nobody says anything it’ll never change. And so while I could save myself some anxiety and some trouble and some chest pain and my heart problems, etc. I still choose to do it. Because in the long run, I think trying to make a differences more important to me personally, then, just trying to look out for my own welfare. I don’t expect everyone to do what I do. But I’m also not gonna stop because I believe in what I’m doing.❤️

You hunt for problems and use your disability as a crutch and your dog as a shield to make managers afraid to kick you out. You’re literally worse than the fakes.

@ServiceDogPaws my mom has a poodle granted unless u look u would never notice her riding my dad's scooter. That dog I hate will bite me in a sec. However that dog helps my MOM with deminta. Without her my mom would be dead. I have a little dauchand that is my therapy dog. He goes Into nursing homes. He calms me with panic attacks. Don't assume because a dog is small it does not provide a service. Grant you these dogs did react to yours which the owner should of addressed and stopped. My little guy follows my right heel I do not even use a leash with him.

@ServiceDogPaws let me add I have a rottweiler mix she is strong enough to hold me down to prevent hurting myself. Emotional support dogs do provide medical help. Just like many you seem to want to knock the need and use of emotional support animals because it can not be seen.

@@raewebb1399 they aren’t legally allowed to be aggressive and bite anyone/anything. If someone needs the help, they need to do so legally, and safely for everyone involved. Otherwise you face charges and jail time. A dog that bites, is not safe. Period. I don’t assume the capabilities of small dogs. I’ve trained them. Therapy dogs and service dogs are different. So are emotional support animals. One topic at a time.

How did you teach the paw with the scent? Did you first introduce the scent and then after consistently smelling the scent then introduce the paw??

Yes exactly 🥰 I taught her the paw command separately. Like high five. Just paw. And then implemented the paw command, with the scent recognition. Until she understood that when she smells that scent, she paws. Eventually she did it on her own without me using the paw command.

2 worst experiences. Being denied access to labor & delivery. And being forced to unhook my medical devices connected in my body in a lobby of a casino because they were denying us access instead of letting us into our already booked room, where I planned to disconnect my medical tubing. Best experiences. Meeting you guys. Helping other handlers. ❤️

It’s the fact that you had to CHANGE your fluid bag on the ground in front of random people is probably one of the most uncomfortable and scariest thing that you probably had to go through while at that casino. I hate that they made you do that.

@@jjhappymermaids that’s what had me beyond upset. This still tops almost every experience I’ve had. Other than being denied entry to labor and delivery during a high risk pregnancy after a fall. Had to literally call another hospital and go to them.

There’s so many things wrong with this hospital for starters they keep using Covid and saying that the dog can’t be allowed and trying to lie their way out when you know the full law if I was there weather I was a patient or not I be standing up for you and not having you deal with this cause it’s not right and you being in pain makes it a lot worse they keep lying and lying is bs. Sorry you went through this hope you won the lawsuit.

I'd be saying to myself and to possibly management of that place that it was a fake service dog ,I wouldn't cause drama by yelling at a person that there dog wasn't a service dog and not a pet. I have a diabetic alert service dog and I wouldn't want to bring a bad name to other legit service dog handlers or to mine it just gives a bad image .

If it’s. Registered service animal with the required papers they gave, it’s totally lawful. Can anyone buy a service dog badge or something to show it truly is a service animal.??? It’s fair enough to ask rhe question as a business owner or motel /accomodation owner. How many people take their mutt in claiming it’s a service dog. Anyone can claim anything. He has the right to find out rhe regulations. Everything worked out in the end, lessons learnt.

@@tonyhanley9458 that’s the problem anyone can buy the fake certificate and registration. Service dogs do not legally have anything to show. And business can’t legally ask for it. If the dog is trained, you should know. Other than that ask two legal questions is it a service animal required for a disability and what task it’s trained to perform. If the animal is out of control or disruptive they can legally be removed. Now. This service dog retired. My current service dog is graduated from a service dog program. We still do not have stuff to hand out. Because it’s illegal for them to require any paperwork. They can ask their questions allowed by law I stated earlier. And they can remove any dog that’s not trained a misbehaving. They need to properly educated if they are going to be service dogs welcome and abide by the ADA to be disability accessible. There’s no excuse than pure laziness. Going to the ada.gov website give all the info. Not including the federal law cards I had that he was given

I just gotback from doing my treadmill stress test and I'm very upset about it. I reacted the same way you did. I had the super fast hr (well over 100bpm. Possibly as high as 150bpm) I could only do 6 minutes before I had to stop. My heart was beating super fast and hard. My breathing was very heavy. It hurt to breath. I tried to tell the Dr this and he said im just not used to exercise (despite walking his recommended 30 minutes daily) I had to literally fall down to the exam table from how bad I felt. I laid down after a minute or 2 from getting lightheaded and dizzy. The Dr came back in (he was in and out of the room during the test the whole time) and asked why I was laying down (as if my high hr that stayed in the 100s and hyperventilating after only a 6 minute brisk walk wasn't any clue!) I told him I got dizzy and lightheaded. He chuckled and said your just not used to working out. He said it looks normal and see you in 3 months. Given that I don't know much about how a normal person would manage a stress test like that I don't know for sure if what I went through was actually normal but I truly don't think feeling like I was would be normal after a 6 minute brisk walk. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also the dr said I don't need a tilt table test. And laughed when saying that.

It’s up the state you live in to grant permission. I live in Alabama. Therefor in training service dogs have the same rights as fully trained service dogs. Many states have granted extra protection to in training service dogs. If the state does not allow, you can’t bring the dog into public places until fully trained. Since my state does allow it, I’m in my full legal right. Ironic how you thought you did something there.

Ive had people try that with me, I am a female wounded warrior USAF. I have no issues setting them straight, however, it can get pretty annoying when it happens a lot. Hopefully you have more smoothe sailing

Like. Ugh. I could scream. It’s got to get easier eventually.
