She reminds me of my granny. She was born in 1923 and had a friend born in 1909 that went everywhere with us . Her friend loved to go to Kroger every week and never learned to drive so my granny would take her places. My granny drank high balls too and told me she started drinking when she was 12 and driving at 13 “but not at the same damn time !!!” Haha she cut herself after a fall And too many high balls one night and had to have stitches all over

She said she remembers her first car in 1914. That means from birth to age 32 she travelled by wagon or horse and buggy. He home state of Kansas was Indian Territory 22 years before she was born. She was 18 years old in 1900. 21 when the Wright bros. flew the first airplane. 87 when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon.

I’ll bet she was a hoot at family gatherings when after two drinks! Listen to your elders when they talk or share stories about the old days…you’ll probably learn a thing or two.

Carson often had average folks on who had some odd notoriety - the oldest working farmer, champion bird whistler - and they were always treated with such respect. I suspect he enjoyed these interviews far more than many “celebrities”.

When one of my great aunts was approaching 102, her doctor asked her how many children she had. She answered, "I don't know. All i've got is a bunch of old people standing around callin' me 'mom'!" I thought that was hilarious.
