Dune isn't for everyone. It is a philosophical work wrapped in science fiction / fantasy. Dune, Dune Messiah & Children of Dune form a trilogy & tell a complete story, but it gets really weird. God Emperor of Dune is a bridge book. It is almost all philosophical ideas with very little plot. The main character is Paul's son Leto II. It sets up a 2nd trilogy of books. Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse are set 1500 years after God Emperor of Dune. The main characters are the Bene Gesserit, but Frank Herbert died before he could write book 7. Books 7 & 8 were written by Brian Herbert & Kevin J Anderson. I'm not sure if I will even read them.

Love these goals! I’m trying to read the books I’ve had on my bookshelves too, I’m also trying to read more fantasy or non fiction books which is something new for me as I previously enjoyed reading historical fictions but I just want some joy and action and a little lighthearted as historical fiction are very painful. Going to try and DNF this year too if I’m not enjoying myself.

I love your winter picks! Eileen is the ultimate winter read. It’s so claustrophobic and bleak but absolutely brilliant. Ngl, I struggled with The Book of Disquiet even though I was enjoying it so I definitely need to give it another chance in 2024 because the writing is beautiful.
