Have there already been beans in the grinder, or can I really just put in the exact amount of beans I want to brew, like the 20 grams shown here? Will the grinder be damaged if it runs empty, or does that not matter?

I have this machine and didn’t want the 21 gram dose so I adjusted the shaft that holds the tamper fan one full turn extending. Just give the shaft a good tug and it pops right out. On the side of mine they had put a scribe mark(factory) on the upper and lower half so when I loosened the set screw I went one full turn back to that mark. Now I grind 18.5 grams of coffee and my puck screen fits…resulting in better tasting coffee by my standards of course

Thanks for your great review! I bought a prosumer expensive machine with double boiler. It arrived broken to my house. I was going to get the same machine again, but then saw your video on this Ascaso. I ordered one from Ascaso website with your discount code and so glad I got this type of Thermoblock machine instead!

My male masculinity is so toxic, that I refuse to do things by halves, so can I have a chocolate and pistachio macchiato please?🤣 WOW, you seem to go through coffee machines quicker than Trump did cabinet officials.😱 Personally, I liked the Ascaso Steel Duo, I have concerns regarding Sage/Brevilles longevity, especially those using probe sensors. Great video's btw. 😀

So I'm currently down the rabbit hole and have mulled over the Pro, which initially led to your channel, and several others: Dual Boiler, Profitec Move, Ascaso, etc. I've seen your other reviews as well on the Jet and the Ascaso Duo, so I'm wondering. Now that you've had experience with all machines, and given your quick ability to learn, do you still prefer the manual nature of espresso making or are you fully content with what the Oracle Jet can do?

NOT IMPRESSED WITH BREVILLE QUALITY. After less than three years, my Breville Barista Pro thermoblock has completely quit working. Despite following all maintenance protocols-flushing and descaling exactly when prompted by the machine-it failed far earlier than expected. Breville's solution? A $300 repair bill, mostly labor, for a $60 part. This is simply unacceptable. I used the machine to make just four double-shot cappuccinos a day and took meticulous care of it. For a product in this price range, this kind of lifespan is deeply disappointing and not worth the investment. I expected far better durability and reliability from Breville.

What to do about slow grinding times for 18g? My grinder takes 40s to grind those 18g of coffee. Note: Coffee is grinded to perfect size, takes about 30-35s to extract 36g of coffee.

It is a joy to follow your journey on brewing espresso and your expertise is extremely impressive. I’m just starting out on this path; would love to graduate to an Ascaso or other exotic machine. But where to start? A Breville model, as you have done? Was that a step up a learning curve for you? I was set on a Gaggia or Profitec Go as a starter, but boiler issues with the former, and some negative reviews on the latter have given me pause. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

I was sent this machine from Breville to try out and share my discoveries with my audience! So I plan to test it out as best/practically I can to help people make the best decision for themselves 😊 It is definitely a different experience coming from the Steel DUO, but I think it's safe to say this product targets a different audience. Maybe one that doesn't have the time or patience to do puck prep 😅
@MachielGroeneveldАй бұрын
I think the machine measures the height/resistance of the ground coffee when tamping to detect the volume.
@JBthePAdashCАй бұрын
I’m torn. For home use I love the automation and that it makes things simpler. It’s nice to have less things hanging around and to take less time to make a drink. But at the same time, it goes against all of the things I’ve been taught to make good espresso: Weight-based dosing, weight-based shots at approx 1:2 ratio. James Hoffman has always said that pulling shots by time is a solid place to start, but dial in to taste and use scales to measure your in and out. I feel like with this machine you sacrifice control of a lot of variables. I would be interested in a review after use in 6 months.
@HijabsandApronsАй бұрын
Ooo all great points!! One thing I know and didn't show for long enough is that you can do time based shots (I quickly set mine to time based, not volume) and you can set it to run longer and manually stop it earlier if you'd like. I do think a thin scale would still be useful with this machine, and I think I will try weighing the prepared puck and measuring output as it's brewing (maintain the grind size range recommended by the machine) and will see how the auto settings compare. Oh I'll definitely do a review a couple of months down the line! I always do 😊
