Just got mine. I like it, it's smoother to turn, now. I use the QD connector hole on the foot as one attachment point and use the other attachment point on the end of the foot as the second attachment point to attach a sling. If I want to mount the lens on a tripod, I just de-tach the QD connector and I'm good to go. BTW the QD connection is solid, no worries about dropping the camera and lens. And it just got a lot easier to carry the camera and lens now. This or the original collar will not click when adjusting because the lens does not have any stopping points built on to the lens body. To me this is not a deal breaker. This purchase has definitely upgraded the lens. 🖕🖕🖕🖕

Is it just me but, by moment, he is badly out of tune (mostly in the low register)...

A buddy of mine that hunts informed me to use the QD attachment with a magpul dual qd rifle sling. Love it so far. Just wished the foot was little longer and wished the collar clicks like the original when turning. Cheers!

Rather Get the Kirk version >> it looks way better and Stronger >> I use a 6 inch Arca Swiss Plate and 2 x Screws onto the Original Collar foot >> I hand Hold 90 % of the time on my Z8 and the rest is a Bean Bag 10 Kgs on my Truck Window Sill here in Africa where I live ..Basically you Get what you are paying for in anything in life and here this Is a Cheapo Choice @$50 Vs Kirk $250 >> No Brainer Kirk is the One I would get to mount my Expensive Lens and Z8 camera onto My Gitzo Tripod >> DONT Skimp on the Important stuff !!!

I realise this is a first impressions review however to practically assess the lens collar it needs to be attached to the 180-600 lens/camera and tripod/monopod so the fluidity of the collar can be ascertained. Also, having the QD mount at the rear of the foot of a relatively heavy lens may be an issue for balance on a sling strap. Given the weight of the lens, it would need to be near the front of the foot.

I was there on Saturday. the show was Awesome ! The person who was doing the announcing was Terrible ! ( I Hate to say that). They cranked loud terrible music during the flights....couldn't hear the P-51's ?
