I like it but I don’t understand the school problem because i have cp and I went to regular classes but had a long lunch break to eat and go to the bathroom in disabled class and I never got bullying 🤷🏻♀️ On the way I just realized Angela from Who’s the boss was in it 😍

Well, it was based in 2002, so there wasn’t as much accessibility and knowledge about people with disabilities like CP.

@@SophieMacaroniKH I’m not saying that all experiences are the same as mine but I grew up in that period and I still remember it wasn’t like that. I just don’t like every time movies think they have to make the characters who are different from the other characters to get bullied or something like that. They could focus on more how people didn’t listen to her in a way or something like that

I couldn’t find the movie on KZbin. I ended up making a Disney+ account just to watch the movie and canceled it afterwards so I wouldn’t keep getting charged. But it’s worth it.

when I was in high school in 1995 there was a guy in a chair from special ed incorporated to classes, he really excelled in history and mathematics. Most of our classmates would bully him and i stood up for his voice like MOVE! in the hallways Make room. he started getting noticed and nobody picked on him again because he was super smart and won all kinds of awards. This movie reminded me of Michael Para he had CP and probably isn't alive now but i will never forget the impact he had on my life as well in high school.

Thanks for sharing that story. I can relate because I had a friend in college who had a physical disability and was super smart - putting the rest of us to shame. I can never understand why people want to bully other people because they are differently abled. I think this film tells such a wonderful story. Appreciate you taking time to comment.

Completely. After watching Out of My Mind, she needs to be nominated for Best Actress for the Academy Awards. I don’t say that lightly. Her intentionality is beyond incredible.

@@KIDSFIRSTFilmCritics Her performance was all the more incredible when you consider the limitations placed on her, both by her condition and the narrative. Her character being non-verbal means she could only convey the characters feelings through facial expressions and body language. Of course having CP herself, that isn't easy (it isn't easy for most actors at the best of times), but she absolutely nailed it! And for her debut as well! I really want to see her in more things! Movies, TV, whatever, I'll be pre-ordering tickets for anything she does in the future! (I'm crossing all of my fingers and toes for a sequel to Out of My Mind).

I’ve watched the movie last night, after seeing the trailer a couple of months ago, I knew that I had to see this. I was in the special education program as a student with autism and I had a classmate who has cerebral palsy and she was an amazing student and had a blast hanging out with, so to see this story being made truly made me happy and the entire cast was magnificent.
