Mermaid tales originated during eras when Europeans endured weeks and months of waiting for their family members to return from boat voyages. These stories served as coping mechanisms for European communities across generations. These tales are extremely personal to our history, especially those of us who have researched our own family history thoroughly including boat voyages to Canada, America, and elsewhere. Many of us know the ports and boat names our families came to America on. During those voyages, many of our ancestors read fairytales, including mermaid fairytales, while waiting. These are deeply personal to our story. Little Mermaid and similar tales such as Germany's Undine (1811) or France's Melusine (12th century) hold significant cultural importance within European traditions where stories of mermaids and water spirits have been passed down through generations. These narratives resonate deeply because they reflect the unique maritime heritage of these regions and the profound impact of seafaring life on their communities. In Northern European maritime history, families faced the harsh realities of loved ones embarking on dangerous voyages across the sea. Mermaid tales provided a means of coping with this uncertainty, offering narratives of hope, protection, and the longing for miraculous rescues amidst the perils of the ocean. These stories served as cultural touchstones, encapsulating themes of longing, sacrifice, and the desire for transformation that were particularly resonant within Northern European societies. Some of the most resonant tales naturally center around themes of love. The 1837 Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, rooted in Danish folklore, exemplifies this cultural resonance. The story was influenced by Andersen's Danish upbringing and the broader Northern European literary tradition. This tale continues to be cherished for its exploration of these timeless themes within a distinctly Northern European context, connecting audiences to their cultural heritage and emotional landscapes. Denmark's iconic mermaid, known as The Little Mermaid, is also bronze statue located at Langelinie Pier in Copenhagen, Denmark. Unveiled on August 23, 1913, it was a gift from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen to the City of Copenhagen. Again, in DENMARK. The cultural accuracy of this story should always reflect the region's maritime history and the enduring human experiences of longing and resilience that resonate deeply within these communities. Altering the culture of these tales to fit modern American narratives is irresponsible, and all parties involved should feel absolutely ashamed of themselves for ignoring the true history which inspired fairytales like this. Hopefully, if Disney decides to produce another version in the future, they will do so while respecting the origins of these fairy tales and understanding why people value preserving their stories. It's important to honor the essence and significance of these tales and the reasons they exist in the first place. I'm thoroughly disappointed. It's hard to express it any other way. This ranks among the biggest letdowns I've ever watched. Disney caused quite the mess with this one. If as a society we all agree to preserve each other's cultures, we must take cultural appropriation seriously. I didn't even delve into the appropriation of the European brand of royalty, kingdoms, and their exclusivity to European culture, which was also co-opted in this show. This show unabashedly embodies cultural appropriation, without offering any apology for its choices.

This was my first Ghostbusters Day event in NYC. I was accompanying my twin brother Raul Rosario from the Oklahoma Ghostbusters on his dream to bring his his Afterlife Ecto-1 to NYC. The Oklahoma City Ghostbusters came and my niece from Texas. Some Spectre Ghost from Orlando Florida (Antonio Negron) followed us from Florida to NYC..... Truly a one in a lifetime experience and to be there with all the fellow Ghostbusters from around the world... Priceless

Just watch this beautiful movie, my heart❤ was stolen by Theo, Chloe is kind, Dakoda btw is brilliant, but, my heart broke, the innocence of Theo, the dark side of the western society, the message of this movie is understood and obviously need to take real action. Mira's character was the beautiful soul, who wanted to help with all her heart, the rest of the cast was the perfect balance. We work 50 weeks of the year to have a 2 week holiday, balance ain't right.Theo and Chloe needs to be heard and seen. Fiction or real, this movie stole my heart to the core❤.Sweet, afraid for Theo, cuteness of homeless connections, and to see the world at the end through Theo's eyes, got to me so much, to say what happened was devastating is not even close. Thankyou for this movie, the innocence is rare, truly refreshing, and a must for us to save the planet.
