Husband and I been married a long time, he and I had 6 kids before we knew the weird movements in his dad's later life was huntingtons and you are right huntingtons is a disease from hell. Husband has changed so much there is not alot of what I had known for many years left. 2 of the 6 don't have it. 4 sons have not wanted to do tests to find out yet. I told Husband knowing with every baby we had, there is a chance as an adult they could have huntingtons. I have alot of guilt.

My son is on oxygen. Nobody smokes around him. I mean ppl use to when we went out a lot but we dont go out that much. But id always get mad when they’d come near us. So careless. I would always have to ask them to walk away from where he is and they get all pissy. I’m always worried about driving with a lot of tanks. We turn his oxygen off before we light candles for anyone’s birthday cake.. but I do lit incense a couple times a week. He is 15 feet from the incense. Is that safe or do I need to not use them? Thank you

I know oxygen can be dangerous, but I have to cook our meals. Since we have a gas stove, I try to be careful. What advice would you give.

I came here after seeing a documentary about the Apollo space program ... in which they said three astronauts were in a 100% oxygen environment when a spark from shoddy wiring ended their lives. Damn.

Smoking is NOT the only ignition hazard for someone on Home Oxygen Therapy. Pilot lights in furnaces and water heaters, space heaters, static sparks from walking on carpet, and more. All home oxygen, whether liquid oxygen, compressed gas, to concentrators should be equipped with cannula firebreak valves to stop the flow of oxygen should a fire occur. They cost about $10 each and the cannula tubing should have two of them, one near the patient, and the other near the oxygen source.

My grandmother died from Huntington 's and my father wasn't tested. I am not symptomatic. This disease is brutal and I pray that the medical experts find a cure soon. I am sorry for what your wife and family are doing through. Pray for her and your family.

Talk is cheap. How about telling the truth. Many doctors are pushing people into hospices Don't care about the patient, not for the families and friends. When the patient wants to leave, the staff spuns more lies dru the patient. Even more.Gree and money is all these places. Care about. The worst is Park Ave rehab center Tucson Arizona It needs to be closed down.

I remember one time I went outside to smoke a cigarette at the designated smoking area, I found a patient out there smoking, he had oxygen on, I told him he should take off his oxygen line while smoking, he said "nah, it's ok"... and a few seconds later his whole beard caught on fire!, he jumped and started smacking his face, while I just stared at him, he was fine, but it scared the crap out of him.

Is this for long distance travel? I need to drive 5 minutes to get them refilled and it’s a small car so they only fit in the trunk. Is it dangerous to keep them in the trunk for just a 5 minute drive? We keep them secured so they can’t roll around. The only other alternative is standing them up on a diagonal in front of the passenger seat, but then you can’t have a passenger in the car.

Nope. Never lay them down. Only transport them upright. If the valve becomes damaged (in an accident or sudden stop) they become missiles. They are “compressed gas” and can tear through walls and other vehicles. Never ever lay them down.

My wife passed away from HD and we have 2 children together.....I was never told of this disease in her family.....yes it was hidden from me......so I deal with the anger on that part....and when we were told of the disease she had, I questioned the family...and the reply was. "she always wanted children"......how devilish of them......to hide that from me. My daughter and her husband wanted to have children and my daughter went and had the HD test....she is positive...and I am heart broken....how can a family hide this disease from someone and risk the life of a child.....my daugher is now the age of 28 and has signs of HD and for myself "no words" just simply broken....Conclusion....STOP HAVING CHILDREN IF YOU ARE AT RISK, IT IS NOT A CHOICE..............STOP.....AND THE DISEASE IS NO MORE....NOT HARD TO FIGURE THAT OUT NOW IS IT! Do not play the 50% chance game....STOP
