When was this actually used to inspect track. I'm assuming it must of been in the 60s or 70s?

Very little smoke for an Alco. Must be very well maintained.

I'm pretty sure I saw this engine working for Kennecott circa 1961.

Great video- but with the heavy breathing behind the camera, I was half expecting Micheal Myers to jump out and start stabbing the engine 😂😂😂

One thing that’s always puzzled me, which end is the front and which is the back? I’ve seen them pulling freight both ways
@FrozenMurican Жыл бұрын
They are meant to be long hood forward, most early diesel engines were as a left over from the steam era but it was quickly realized how much better visibility was the other way around.
@allegro4463 ай бұрын
In this case the long hood is the front. Road switchers often travelled using Long Hood Forward, as a holdover from steam locomotives where the cab was placed at the rear.

My son really likes trains especially Alco's like those two. In fact he says that many people likes Alco's because they are not as common as other diesel locomotives and the sounds they make and are very rugged locomotives he heard that they can crash into many things and just keep on going and they should be preserved, restored, and put back into service.

My son loves classic automobiles 🚘 like those he says: "They don't make them like that anymore 😔." But he also thinks that they should with no microprocessors of any type in them just pure mechanics and with style and character.

My son really likes the Nevada Northern Railway 🛤 and their rolling stock and he hopes that real soon the line to McGill is restored and used again as well as the part the keystone line into the copper mines.
