Can these rods handle really big fish like wels catfish, alligator gar and white sturgeon?

I’ve seen them handle alligator gar just fine and I suppose it depends on the size of the fish. That being said, they would hold up for a wide range of fish but if you’re specifically larger species, I would think it would also depend on the overall setup… will the rod fail before the reel, line, terminal tackle etc.

It would actually be just fine, however a reviewer on the website said it was too small for the way he liked to fish for musky. The comment in the video is just suggesting you consider all options for the way an individual prefers to fish.

It could be but you’d probably want to check out the other versions. This is the shallow spool version so it’s more designed to throw small, light weights large distances. Hope that helps.

I have a few of those whisker seekers, it’ll fit in there just fine but may not have the line capacity you want depending on how you spool it.

It should be fine in both lakes and rivers. I think I got mine from Scheels but you can also get it on Amazon, Dicks Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops and some others. Hope that helps.

I think it would work pretty well for that application. It does really well with shorter casts and lighter line weights.

Just got it. Have the 300 and use it for frogging and jigging a big spoon. Works great especially the bail lock instead a having to reel. Held up great last season. Hopefully the 400 will work well for Striper season paired with a Teramar NE 7’ MH

I haven’t seen a limit for the reels but any restrictions you run across tend to come from the line weight you’re using and your rod. As long as your rod is rated to throw it and your line can handle it, you should be fine.

Not typically. They do have left hand models available but Abu typically adds a 1 in their model numbers. So for left hands you would want a 6501, 5501 etc.

Will 400 cast further than 300 or they about same. Like if we use same lure weight and same size of rod for example. I want reel wich can cast long distance but can't decide should i go with 400 or 300. Can anybody help. Thanks

Depending on your setup, these should cast the same, or at least given a short distance, both could cast 20 yards easily. The 400 is larger and technically could cast further but it’s due to a matter of line capacity. Both will function similarly but the 400 will hold more line than the 300. Hope that helps.

They never actually made that obvious. I would assume the “limited edition” but there’s really nothing limited about it. It really just seems like a marketing designation to differentiate it from the standard black/cork Penn Battle 3 combo. The Penn and Pure fishing websites just list the 3 variations in the series as standard, LE and Travel. Hope that helps but from what I could find it means “the blue and white one”.

I have 4 KastKing Kong rods 2 of them are medium powered 7 ft spinning rods and the other 2 are medium heavy powered 7 ft casting rods but they are all KastKing Kong rods and I love them.

It could be on the earlier version if you’re referring to an external switch. This model was the Revo3 SX and there isn’t an external switch but when you switch your retrieve to right or left, it doesn’t wind backwards due to the anti reverse bearing.

That is the Kastking mono in Chrome Blue. It’s 10 or 12 pounds but I order it off Amazon and they’re same price.

I bought 4600 C4 several years ago trough ebay. But i found out it teribble bc reel to cast. Very loud noise when i cast and felt heavy when retrived. But after i made a tweaking, now it cast very good and smooth while retriving. I just put two brakes on and it will cast a 4 gram stick lure with ease using 10lb braid. Two things to notes that this reel heavy on hand and heavy while retrive since it using small main gear for 6:3 ratio. I actually machined the bottom of it mainshaft and put a small bearing in it. And it made huge different on my reel which i almost sell it. Which i do not, thank God😊

Hopefully they add them at some point. The most similar I’ve seen so far is that fire stik from firewater marine. You can usually find it on Amazon and it’s a 2 piece, but the price fluctuates as most on Amazon do. Thanks for watching!

It has 6:3 to 1 ,I have 5 of them and also have a couple carp specials which do have 5:3 to 1 and you can tell the faster retrieve with the Carp Pro reels and it has 4 bearings not 5

It could work for some inshore I’m sure but would require rinsing. The issues you’re most likely to run into would be line capacity due to limited reel sizes and that it’s not really a sealed system.

The chaos is one of my favorites. When they added the black edition I was hoping they’d quit printing the gear ratio so large on them. For the price though, they’re hard to beat.

😂 tried a new line winder that held the spool too tight. No worries, it didn’t leave the house like that. Thankfully I got to test both putting line on and reeling it back off with the new tool.

The Sharky 3 did not have additional spools, not in this market anyway. The similar reel they made with both shallow and standard spools is the Megajaws elite. Hope that helps.

It should hold a 6500 fine as we tried some kastking 6000s but when you start getting bigger than that you’re sometimes better off with the double locking aluminum.

Yes, depending on what’s available of course. The short xtra heavy may be too stiff. However there is a MH casting that will throw 2-8oz and they’re on sale on the Kastking website today. Hope that helps

@@act_lgnd1166 No the medium heavy would be fine…or the medium but I think that’s just in spinning. I’ve had a few different sizes. It won’t be like your typical bass rod with tons of flex for tossing lighter lures but I used that MH on bass, striper, channel cats and carp and it’s still fun.

It pops up when you’re casting and then you can press it back down to disengage the thumb bar instead of just starting to reel to do so.

Why can’t it handle heavier. Something that big only able to handle 17lb mono at 225 yards is wild compared to spinning reel at the same price

It’ll handle heavier for sure, you just lose line capacity. They used to make a Blue Yonder that had a pretty large capacity but when they add that level wind system, it starts to limit your options.

Good point. They’ve consistently pushed the catfish commando as a 1 size fits all. You can’t even buy the rod separately. It’s solid, while the reel could use some work.

It’s okay. It’s a neon green but not a “glow tip” so it really gets its high visibility from the contrast to the rest of the rod. If you’re going under a black light there may be better options but this one is solid overall
