I'm growing these melons this year in PEI. with the advice from your video and your comments section in mind, i think i will try a mix of these in my greenhouse, some under row covers outdoors, and some right out in the field to see how they all do. i'm looking forward to eating these! hopefully we get some success with one of the three methods.

Hello! I managed to find Montreal Mellon seeds and I am going to attempt plating this summer. Should I start them indoors, soon? Any tips? Do they regrow every year?

For cooler climates try growing in stacks of used car or truck tyres (say) 3 high. I stack tyres on polythene and fill the area which held the tube with newspaper. The black tyres hold more heat but require more regular watering.

I see a lot of sweet potato videos with peoples taters gowning weird shapes i wonder why because alot have good loose soil not hard clumpy clay or whatever

I watched your "Growing sweet potatoes in a cold climate!" video about a year ago and decided to give it a try this year. I'm in North Idaho, 20 miles south of the Canadian border and 3 miles west of Montana, 5b/6a. I started with a grocery store "yam" I (intentionally) had left over from Thanksgiving dinner in 2022. By January it was sprouting so I put it in a container with dirt covering it about halfway. About mid-March I pulled some slips off and got them going in 2 gallon pots. I have lights but I just did the sweet potatoes in a South window, they nearly blocked the window entirely after a few weeks, they make a beautiful houseplant! About mid-June I put them outside in two 30 gal trash bags filled with native soil/compost mixed about 50/50. There were already little sweet potatoes forming in the bottoms of the 2 gal pots when I removed them. They were just beautiful all summer, lush foliage and even some attractive little flowers, they sort of became my pet crop. I harvested them a week ago and ended up with a little over 16 lbs, the biggest tuber weighed nearly 1 1/2 lbs! Just wanted to say thanks for that video because I wouldn't have thought it possible to grow sweet potatoes here if I hadn't seen it. That was one of the most rewarding things I've done in the garden for a long time, I'll definitely be growing sweet potatoes from now on! I took cuttings before I harvested and I have them growing inside to get slips for next year. Thanks!

Got some seeds from Terre Promise. My plant has one fruit starting to grow now, it's about the size of a chicken egg. Last year didn't work, but hoping this time with more sun, it works out better.

So any food youbget from america if you plant to grow it again. You should scrub with eater and soap. They spray them with chemical so they dont grow in the store.
